Privacy NoticeActress Anya Taylor-Joy, who starred in The Queen’s Gambit and Peaky Blinders, has confirmed she secretly married her partner Malcolm McRae in a ceremony in New Orleans in 2022. The 27 year old shared a series of previously unseen photographs and videos from her big day, including her human heart-shaped “anatomically correct” cakes surrounded by pools of (fake) blood. Reports of her wedding to Malcolm, who is in the band more*, first emerged in July 2022 but neither of them confirmed their marital status. Writing alongside the new post, she wrote: “Two years ago, on April Fools, I secretly married my best friend in New Orleans. The magic of that day is ingrained in every cell of my being, forever.”

She continued: “Happy second ( first ) anniversary my love… you’re the coolest. N.B yes, those are anatomically correct heart cakes. Yes, I am the vampire Lestat.” The Golden Globe winner added that her Dior wedding gown, which was embellished with thistles and hummingbirds, was “beautifully embroidered with our love story. Model Cara Delevingne, who is currently starring in Cabaret on London’s West End, was one of the guests at the wedding and was tagged in the post by Anya. As well as a stunning shot showing off Anya’s long veil, she also posted a video of herself covering her face with her veil in front of a grand-looking backdrop covered with candles.

Alabama-born Malcom also shared his own set of anniversary photos from the day, writing: “I love you now and somehow I always have and somehow it will never end. Happy two year anniversary (yesterday), beautiful.” It was previously rumoured that the couple had said their ‘I Dos’ in October 2023, when photos emerged of a celebration in Italy, which some claimed was their wedding. The snaps from the Italian event showed Anya, who played Gina Gray in the fifth and sixth series of Peaky Blinders, wearing the same dress as seen in the new pictures from the New Orleans ceremony. While she prefers to keep her private life, private, Anya previously gushed about Malcolm in an interview with British Vogue. She said: “I said to my partner the other day that he was my hobby. I see reading as something that I have to do. He loved it because he’s the same. I’ve finally found someone who will happily sit in silence with me reading.
