Privacy NoticeMiranda Hart has shared a hilarious anecdote about how she confirmed her love for her new hubby. The TV funny woman candidly confessed that she let one rip “within 10 minutes” of her first date with the “shy and sweet” Richard Fairs. She wanted to be “authentically me” during their rendezvous and couldn’t resist letting out a fart – which she found to be the “funniest thing ever”. Miranda, 51, then went on to moan about the subpar takeaway pizza they had during their lockdown date. She knew Richard was the one when he wasn’t put off by her flatulence and agreed with her about the poor quality of their meal’s mozzarella, according to the Daily Star. The couple quickly fell head over heels and got hitched earlier this year.

Speaking on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast, Miranda said that at the time they met, she was figuring out how to be herself. “It’s very silly but I met him at the point where, unexpectedly to me, this story and discovery of this time is learning to be who I am and how to be a kind, loving version of me,” she expressed. Summing up the essence of their bond, Miranda concluded: “I’m not going to say sorry unless I really need to. I’m going to be me. I’m not going to rein myself in. We were chatting, all very easy, all very fun from the off. Then we get a pizza delivery, the pizza comes and I haven’t shied away from saying how excited I am about pizza because I think pizza’s very exciting. And he found that, I’m pleased to say, charming. He was like, ‘I’m excited about pizza too.” In an absolutely hilarious tale, Miranda recounted a pizza delivery fiasco that turned into quite an emotional storm. She revealed: “But my pizza arrived and it had done that thing of shunting up towards one end. Mozzarella was leaking everywhere. It flipped a bit so it looked a bit like a calzone, but I don’t like calzones – so I, in the spirit of just being authentically me, I go off on one, I get full-on teenage grumpy. I went on and on and on.”

Detailing her date’s reaction, she quipped: “He was a bit sort of wide-eyed. He’s very shy. He’s sweet. The inner critic came in and went, ‘apologise, do your thing, say sorry I’m an absolute idiot, I don’t know what I was doing, I’m only joking’.” Yet, Miranda stood firm and didn’t apologise, explaining: “I thought, ‘no, I’m not going to’. In that moment I was p***** off and there was a slight moment and he went, ‘that mozzarella’s not doing what it should do’ and I said, ‘exactly’.” Adding a touch more to the story, she revealed: “We formed this delicious connection and actually sat eating the pizza in a bit of silence. It kickstarted the freedom for him and for me to just go let’s start meeting and connecting and if this is going further in this way, let’s not do formal, let’s not do small talk, it’s not we are.”
Miranda openly said, ‘It is lovely. For some reason I didn’t think it was possible for me’

For some reason I didn’t think it was possible for me, didn’t think it would ever happen. And then he came along.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK! MagazineFacebookTwitterCommentMore OnMiranda Hart
