On Wednesday, 16 October it was revealed that Liam had sadly died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, with people from across the world paying tribute to the singer. According to TMZ, it’s reported that Liam and Kate arrived in Argentina on Monday, 30 September, though Kate flew home on Monday, 14 October. Liam then reportedly stayed behind and checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel alone.

Over recent weeks the pair documented their getaway on social media. Prior to heading on the trip, the Steal My Girl singer revealed that he was heading to Argentina, where Niall Horan was touring at the time, and admitted that he had “got a lot to talk about” with his former bandmate. Meanwhile, in a video shared on TikTok on Monday, 14 October, Kate gave her 283,000 followers a glimpse of her flight home to Florida following the trip. In the video, the content creator explained that she was only supposed to be in South America for “five days”, but it soon turned into a fortnight. “Travel from South America back to Florida with me,” she began. “I was so ready to leave, I honestly love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long, and we were supposed to be there for like five days, turned into two weeks. And I was just like, I need to go home.” As she picked up her boarding pass, she added: “Of course my seat was 1D, I feel like this happens every single time I fly. I also get such anxiety before flying so I like broke out in this weird rash.”

After documenting the flight, Kate revealed that she’d safely arrived home in Miami. “I was so happy to be home. It was just so relieving. The first thing I did – ordered a bagel, obviously, with cream cheese because eggs gross me the f*** out, and then I got in my clean bed,” she explained. Following news of Liam’s death, celebrities including Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus have shared their condolences on social media. “So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones.
