The 31 year old singer, who first shot to fame on The X Factor, died after falling from a third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A body was discovered in the hotel’s internal patio, prompting the hotel manager to alert the authorities. According to Alberto Crescenti, a spokesperson for the city ambulance service, Liam plummeted approximately 40 metres, sustaining catastrophic injuries that proved fatal. Fans are mourning the loss of the star who was just a teenager when he auditioned for The X Factor back in 2008, where he also encountered Cheryl Cole, with whom he later had son Bear. An old video has resurfaced showing a young Liam expressing his passion for singing: “When I’m at school, in general, I think about singing all the time.”

He admitted to the judges, including Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, and Cheryl, “I should really be concentrating on my school work but I just think about singing too much.” In his introduction, he humbly stated, “A lot of people say I’m a good singer and I’ve got The X Factor but I don’t really know what The X Factor is and I believe you guys do”, reports the Mirror. Liam stunned the judges with a rendition of Fly Me To The Moon by Frank Sinatra. After his performance, Simon brutally shared: “I’m just missing a bit of grit, a bit of emotion and actually a bit of fun, funnily enough.” Cheryl was more positive, gushing: “I liked it. I think you’re really cute. I think you’ve got charisma.. you gave us that cheeky little wink,” while Louis Walsh saw potential, stating: “I think this kid could do fantastic in the show.”

However, Simon felt there was “20 per cent missing” from Liam’s performance. Undeterred, Liam challenged: “Well give me another audition and I’ll show you I’ve got that 20 per cent.” He was given another shot and impressed all three judges, securing his place in the next round. Despite making it to the judges’ houses, Simon decided to send him home, advising him to return in two years. True to his word, Liam returned at 16 and landed a spot in One Direction alongside Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, becoming part of one of the world’s biggest boy bands. The news of Liam’s death has left fans reeling, as a local ambulance manager told TN: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.”

They continued: “At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
