Privacy NoticeKatie Price is as famed for her various surgeries, nips, tucks and tweakments, as she is for her telly gigs, tumultuous love life and bankruptcy battles. Her past surgeries have included a nose job, veneers, lip fillers, liposuction and Botox, culminating in her first facelift in 2017. But her most famous surgical procedure has to be her boob jobs – a whopping 17 in total. And one man who knows what it’s like to live with someone constantly going under the knife in a quest for perfection is Katie’s ex-fiancé, Carl Woods. Carl and Katie were on and off for three and a half years, before the relationship ended last November. They met through friends in 2020, and announced their engagement 10 months later, in 2021.

Talking exclusively to OK! about his famous ex, the 35-year-old confesses his deepest fear – that after two decades under the surgeon’s scalpel, Katie’s “surgery addiction”, which shows no sign of stopping, could one day cost her her life. Having recently had a £10,000 facelift in Turkey – Katie’s sixth to date – the reality star, 46, even seemed to good-naturedly poke fun at herself when she said, “I look plastic because I am plastic. At least I tell you all what I’ve done.” For Carl, a business entrepreneur from Essex who appeared on Love Island in 2016, Katie’s many surgeries are part of a potentially fatal “mission for perfection”. “They say in your life you can only have so much anaesthetic before it’s a problem. And like everything in her life, Kate likes to push the boundaries. I feel like she’ll never be happy,” he says. “Unfortunately, there could be that final time she doesn’t wake up. Sadly, I do 100% believe that could happen. But Kate never spoke to me about being scared about it, she’d brush off all that talk.” Carl’s own wake-up call came during a couple’s trip to Turkey, where he was going to have full body liposuction alongside Katie – but lost his nerve once he saw the “shocking state” of her after surgery when she was wheeled out of the operating theatre. “I got wrapped up in it all for a while – because she was constantly on this mission for perfection, so I started criticising myself. But when I saw her after her lipo, I was like, ‘Oh, my God. No, no way are they doing that to me.’

Carl’s own wake-up call was seeing Katie come out of lipo surgery – and he immediately called off his own

“She looked like she’d been hit by a train. I told the doctors to take my cannula out there and then, and said, ‘I’m not going through with it.’ She looked like an octopus, she had so many drains coming out of her. Her wounds had pus, they were bleeding, and she was crying in agony. I looked at her and I thought, ‘Why are you doing this to yourself?” Indeed, Katie and Carl documented that particular surgical procedure in detail on her personal YouTube channel. The graphic footage shows the op itself and details her recovery, showing the reality star groaning in agony as nursing staff remove drains and bandages. Katie’s history of going under the knife dates back to her first boob job at the age of just 20. Yet in 2021, she insisted she was not addicted to cosmetic surgery. Carl would strongly disagree, saying, “She’s totally addicted. In the time I was with her she had three boob jobs.” When they were a couple, Carl would sometimes find himself blamed by trolls for “encouraging” Katie in her surgeries, but he maintains he was the one begging her to stop. “It was very difficult – I’d plead with her not to go ahead. I’d say, ‘You don’t need it. I’m worried this is going to kill you one day.’ But it was like talking to a brick wall. She’d brush it off. It’s a dangerous game – she’s playing Russian roulette with her life.

“You persist, and then you’re accused of being ‘controlling’. She would say, ‘You don’t want me to do this because you don’t want me to be attractive to other men.’ You’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.” Carl maintains that Katie has an addictive personality – and her tattoos are another example of this. He tells OK!, “Kate covers the parts of herself that she feels aren’t perfect with tattoos – her latest addiction. But elements of your body will age regardless, like your knees.” So, is it vanity, or a lack of self-esteem pushing Katie to get more and more work done when family and friends are telling her she’s beautiful as she is? For Carl, it’s not about a lack of confidence, but rather a constant need to “chase her youth”. Carl says that he would sometimes glimpse Katie at home, Googling old pictures of herself from the 1990s when she was still known as Jordan – and remembers her “constantly” pulling her face up with her hands – miming the effects of a facelift. Speaking about her decision to go under the knife so many times, Katie previously told Good Morning Britain, “It’s like a car – you have an MOT. If you get a scratch or a dent, you fix it, and that’s how I feel with my body.” The star, who is mum to Harvey, 22, Junior, 19, Princess, 17, Jett, 11, and 10-year-old Bunny, added, “I’m not trying to look younger and I definitely don’t want that alien look – when people go over the top and look like freaks. “I’m not addicted, but if people want to say I’ve got body dysmorphia, just say it. Even my mum says, ‘You need to see somebody. You’re not normal in the head, are you?’”

Katie herself recalled a chat with her sister Sophie on The Katie Price Show podcast, about a psychic who’d once warned that she would die in her sleep. She explained, “I was in America and I went and saw a lady with a crystal ball, you know, a medium or clairvoyant or whatever they’re called. “I said to her, ‘How do you think I’m going to die?’ She said, ‘Oh, you’re going to die in your sleep peacefully.’ She said: “If I have surgery again, what if I do go in my sleep…” As for Carl, who is dating beautician Megan Bell, 25, he has a chilling warning for his one-time fiancée. “Katie has had more than enough people begging her to stop. One day, it’s going to be fatal. She’s had a couple of surgeons refuse to operate on her, but she just finds a different one who will. I pray to God I’m wrong, for her family, her kids and everyone who loves her.” What of three-times-married Katie’s latest flame – MAFS UK star JJ Slater – who she has been dating since February? “I don’t know JJ and I don’t know if he’s going along with it, or he has the balls to try and stop her – but even if he did, it would all fall on deaf ears,” Carl says. “Katie will do what she wants.” If he thought she would listen, there’s one message Carl would love Katie to truly take in. “I feel like she’s constantly butchering herself. I’d say, ‘Kate, grow old gracefully. Because, honestly, I wish you well. You’re already beautiful inside and out. Be happy in your own skin and just enjoy your life.’” A representative for Katie said, “It’s disappointing that people who were once close to Kate are now exploiting her insecurities and mental health issues.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
