Privacy Notice Congratulations are in order for Miranda Hart who has revealed that she has tied the knot to a mystery man in a Hawaiian themed wedding. The actress shared the exciting news earlier this week during an appearance on The One Show sofa on Wednesday, 9 October in which she revealed that she’d married her “best friend” at the age of 51. “I’d written Gary for on-screen Miranda and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person, and I met him and it’s a little undercurrent in the book,” she told hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott. She added: “He’s my best friend, we have the best fun and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.”

Since making the shock announcement, the Miranda star has given more details about her marriage, though has kept the details of her husband under wraps. Writing in her new book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, she has affectionately nicknamed him ‘The Boy from Bristol’ or ‘The Mould Man’. And now, while promoting the new release, Miranda spoke to Graham Norton on his The Graham Norton Show, in which she gave fans a taste of her wedding, revealing that it had a Hawaiian theme. “It was a very small gathering and for no reason at all it was Hawaiian themed with inflatable flamingos, coconut bowling and a steel band,” she explained. It comes after Miranda spoke about getting engaged to her husband during a romantic walk in Kew Gardens. “We stood still on the bridge overlooking the lake when the silence was pierced as he rather seriously said, ‘Miranda’. I turned around and as I did he got down on one knee,” she wrote. “‘Miranda…’ I don’t remember anything else because I simply burst out crying, apparently saying yes before he had finished the sentence (awkward if he’d been tying a shoelace…).”

The TV personality, who briefly split for her beau before their engagement, added: “I didn’t think a traditional proposal would affect me so. But there was someone knowing all my ridiculousness and brokenness and still willing to bend down, look up and commit to loving me and standing by me for the rest of his life.” While not much is known about Miranda’s husband, the actress has shared the unusual way that they met. As outlined in her book, the pair met when Miranda needed a mould problem in her home fixing and he was the building surveyor working on the project. The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC One on Friday, 11 October at 10.40pm and is also available on BBC iPlayerStory SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
