Privacy NoticeDenise Nolan’s wedding to husband Tom Anderson was a day of love and laughter, but there were also some poignant moments in memory of those who were missing from the list of their nearest and dearest. One of those was Bernie Nolan, who tragically lost her cancer battle 11 years ago when she was aged just 52. Last week, when Denise, 72, tied the knot with her long-term partner Tom, 77, her late sister was remembered in a very special moment when they played a special recording of Bernie singing Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely? “Obviously, not a day goes by where we don’t think of her,” Denise told OK! in an exclusive chat after the wedding. “But you can’t bring it up too much because it becomes very sad.”

“She was such a presence in our lives. She was a real extrovert and such fun. So any party we have, we know she should be there. And my Auntie would have loved it, and she loved Tom. Actually, everybody loves Tom, he’s just the sort of person that everyone loves.” The couple have been together for almost 50 years but only officialy married on Monday, 17 June in their hometown, with guests including sisters Anne, Linda, Maureen and Coleen Nolan. They chose to incorporate a moving moment from Bernie’s own wedding into their ceremony at Blackpool’s Wedding Chapel, which sits on the town’s famous Promenade. “When our late sister Bernie was getting married, the whole family got up and sang Frank Sinatra’s You, My Love mixed with a song from West Side Story called One Heart . It was really lovely, with beautiful harmonies. I videoed it from the back of the room, and we played it on our big day.”

Denise chose to walk down the aisle to one of her own Sinatra covers from a Top 20 album she released released in 2022, which Tom co-produced. “Everybody was crying, even Tom was sobbing. I also picked Frank Sinatra’s Love And Marriage because I thought, ‘I have to have a comic song in there,’ and we’re all Sinatra addicts in our family. “As we walked back down the aisle we had Tom singing Love Will Keep Us Together . To be able to choose all our own music was really special for us.” At the evening wedding party, the DJ also honoured The Nolans’ incredible career by playing a number of their hit tracks, which include I’m in the Mood for Dancing and Gotta Pull Myself Together.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
