BBC Breakfast presenter Jon was also left disheartened by Carol’s update. When Jon and Sarah handed over to Sarah in the studio, the presenter revealed the weather was looking “really poor” for this time in July. “What about next week? Any sign?” Jon mused, but Carol was quick to squash his hopes. She said: “I would love to say yes Jon,” as he concluded: “But you won’t… One day, Carol.”

Carol’s appearance on BBC Breakfast comes after she opened up about the 14-year age gap between her and her new husband. She wed policeman Steve Randall, 48, in 2023. She brushed off the remarks regarding their age-gap, telling the Express: “If our ages were the other way around, nobody would ever mention it. I’ve had a few comments but I don’t care. We’ve moved on from the days when he might have been described as my toyboy or people might call me a cougar.” Carol defiantly went on say she and Steve are “happy together” and that is “all that matters”. Carol was previously married to Scottish businessman Jimmy Kirkwood, who she divorced in 2008. Carol revealed she and Jimmy were unable to conceive children, and they “tried everything”. She told the publication: “I’d wanted to be a mum since I was a child. And we tried everything. But it just never happened and nor could anyone tell us why. But I’ve got lots of nieces and nephews who I adore.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
