Privacy Notice She was one of the most controversial TV stars of the time, but these days disgraced Big Brother star Emily Parr looks worlds away from appearance on the show. The former drama student was involved in a huge race row during her time on the reality show – which has recently returned for a new series on ITV – and the fallout saw her ejected from the house in the early hours of the morning as producers took swift action. These days, Emily is a social media influencer, and known as Emily Valentine. She has an impressive over 50,000 followers on Instagram, with her posts focusing on style, lifestyle and wellbeing as well as entrepreneurial trends.

Emily is looking forward to getting married later in the year, and has set up her own influence business which helps other creators build and market their following. She made her TV debut back in 2007 when she joined the Big Brother house for the show’s eighth series, which went on to be won by Brian Belo and also featured sisters Amanda and Sam Marchant as well as Ziggy Linchman and Chanelle Hayes. It was just nine days into the show that Emily heard saying a racial slur against one of her housemates, Charley Uchea, in the garden. At the time, Endemol, which produced the show stated that Emily had broken the rules governing contestant behaviour.

She was removed from the house but took full responsibility and made a heartfelt apology to the public. “There’s no amount of words that can cover how sorry and how stupid I’ve been,” she said at the time. “But we’ve all got to move on now, and all I ask from anyone reading this is that they understand what really happened and accept my apology. More recently, Emily reflected on the incident in an interview with OK!. In the 2022 chat, she explained that it was a time in her life which she “tries not to revisit”. “It’s a period in my life that I try not to revisit too much if I can,” she said. “The media noise and intrusion was bad but what was worse and lasted for a while was the deep shame I felt about what I had said. ‘The only way I’ve found I could move forward from my mistake was to educate myself and develop a much better understanding of what these racial slurs mean and why they are so awful. As well as having a better understanding of racism and how it manifests in our society today,” she added. Last month Emily revealed her ADHD diagnosis. While not referencing the Big Brother incident, she said of the news: “It gives me a huge sense of peace knowing I have an explanation for the struggles I’ve faced, it doesn’t erase the frustration or the grief for the years spent battling myself. I’ve accepted that it’s a lifelong journey and each day I consciously try and give myself the grace I deserve.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
