The reality TV personality, who is a mother to a 16 year old daughter and an 18 year old son, shared with the Mirror her distress over the chaos erupting on UK streets following the stabbings in Southport. Narinder, 52, has experienced racism firsthand growing up in Newcastle as the daughter of Indian immigrants. She described the recent violence as a “cruel reminder” of her past experiences. Fearing for her family’s safety, she revealed, “My son was supposed to go on a trip to Newcastle, but we cancelled it out of fear of being attacked,” adding, “I’m scared to let the kids out of the house at all.”

Narinder also mentioned her and her husband’s apprehension about travelling in London, a city they once felt secure in, due to concerns about the race-related riots. “My husband and I are wary of travelling around London, a city we’ve usually felt safe in, because we’re worried about our safety amidst these race riots. The threat is real and personal”, reports the Daily Star. Reflecting on the impact of the unrest, Narinder, known for her stint in the second series of Big Brother, said, “Seeing the riots targeting ethnic communities has left me distressed and disheartened. My thoughts are with all people of colour, but especially family and friends, many of whom still reside there, now living in fear.”

The television personality, who lived in Leicester for many years, has expressed her concerns over the recent unrest there. “It is heartbreaking to see the fear in the eyes of the new generation, children and young adults who should be growing up in a society free of such hatred,” she said, adding, “The attacks in Leicester are not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing trend of rising racism and xenophobia across the UK.” The unrest seems linked to the horrific July 29 event in Southport, where three girls lost their lives, and several were injured at a dance class with a Taylor Swift theme.
