Privacy Notice A new BBC drama following the controversy around the kidnapping of model and former Big Brother star Chloe Ayling has been released. The online teaser for Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story shows the model being abducted as she arrives at an address in Milan, Italy. The series is based on the true story of the British glamour model. Chloe was abducted in 2017 after arriving at an address in Milan for a modelling job. Although she was later released, the model faced claims she had faked the whole thing. In the preview clip of the new series, one of Chloe’s kidnappers can be seen asking her: “Are you scared of me?”

The trailer also cuts to a TV interview following Chloe’s release. We see her say: “If I was not a model, do you think people would have the same opinions of me? I don’t think so, no.” Chloe is also asked whether she feels like “the person on trial” in a TV interview after the incident. Chloe was was held in a farmhouse near Turin while a 300,000 euro (£265,000) ransom was demanded. She was released six days later, on July 17, at the British consulate in Milan.

However, she was accused in court of being involved in a “publicity stunt”. The following year she was a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother. In the new drama, Chloe will be played by actress Nadia Parkes. Nadia, who has starred in TV shows The Spanish Princess and Doctor Who and was once in a relationship with Tom Holland. Nadia will be joined with A Spy Among Friends and former EastEnders actor Adrian Edmondson and The Capture’s Nigel Lindsay. The BBC says the new drama asks: “Why Chloe was blamed for her kidnappers’ crimes? How do we relate to survivors of crime who make the front pages? And how does it feel to be an ordinary person, caught up in events so extraordinary that you aren’t believed?”

The series is written by Georgia Lester, who has worked on Killing Eve. Chloe wrote an autbiography after her ordeal: Kidnapped – The Untold Story Of My Abduction. The six-part drama has been made Chloe’s blessing. She has stated that she is “excited” that the BBC will tell “her story”. Filming took place in Italy and the UK last year.
