The sitcom starring the likes of Ricky Gervais, Martin Freeman, Mackenzie Crook and Sally Bretton that first aired in 2001, will return for a spin-off later this year. Prime have announced they’ve commissioned a new series in Australia with actress and comedian Felicity Ward at the helm, and it will air in two months’ time. The Office has had many adaptations around the world, from France, Sweden, Poland, Germany, Chile, Israel, Czech Republic to the very popular US version.

The synopsis of the Australian adoption reads: “In The Office, Hannah Howard is the managing director of packaging company Flinley Craddick. When she gets news from Head Office that they will be shutting down her branch and making everyone work from home, she goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her “work family” together. “The staff of Flinley Craddick indulge her and must endure Hannah’s outlandish plots as they work toward the impossible targets that have been set for them.” The new series will consist of 8 episodes which are believed to all drop at once on Friday 18 August.

Felicity Ward plays the boss Hannah Howard, taking over the baton from Ricky Gervais and Steve Carrell. Felicity is a comedian who’s mainly known for her live shows but has also had roles in the recent Time Bandits, as well as The Inbetweeners 2 and Wakefield. The Office also stars Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda and Claude Jabbour, with Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniiak, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald and Chris Bunton in guest roles.

In other The Office news, it has been announced that NBC have commissioned a new American series based off the hit series. A press release from NBC detailed: “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.” Lisa Katz, the president of NBC Entertainment, added, “This new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling.” Deadline reported that Domhall Gleeson and White Lotus actress Sabrina Impacciatore are allegedly starring in the upcoming series.Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
