BBC's highest-paid stars revealed - as vast salaries of Zoe Ball, Greg James and Gary Lineker released

Privacy NoticeThe BBC has unveiled the pay packets of its top stars for the last financial year, with Gary Lineker holding onto the top spot for the seventh consecutive year. The Match Of The Day host, 63, is the only star to earn over a million pounds, taking home a cool £1.35million. Radio 2 breakfast DJ Zoe Ball followed closely behind, earning £950,000 and becoming the highest-paid radio star. New faces on the list include Radio 2 host Vernon Kay, who replaced Ken Bruce in 2023. He earns £320,000 from the BBC, almost 20% less than what Ken earned the previous year. The list also includes famous faces no longer at the BBC, as it covers the financial year from April 2023 until April 2024. This means Steve Wright, who passed away in February, is included, as is Huw Edwards, who left the BBC in April after being off air since July last year.

It’s believed Huw was off work on full pay, meaning he would have earned £475,000 in his last year at the corporation. However, several big BBC stars are missing from the list, including Michael McIntyre, Paddy McGuinness and Claudia Winkleman. This is because the salaries of stars paid via production companies, including those who receive payments through BBC Studios, are not published. BBC Breakfast hosts earn varying salaries, with Naga Munchetty topping the list at £345,000, which includes her Radio 5 gig. Sally Nugent and Charlie Stayt are on a similar pay scale, earning between £190,000-200,000, while Jon Kay earns £225,000, thanks to his additional work on Radio 4 and a successful BBC podcast.

Since 2017, the BBC has been required by parliament to disclose the salaries of talent and executives earning above a certain threshold (currently £178,000) in its annual report. Here’s a look at the top BBC salaries:. Gary Lineker leads the pack with £1,350,000-£1,354,999, followed by Zoe Ball who earns between £950,000 – £954,999. Christian Fraser, Lucy Hockings, Ben Brown, and Maryam Moshiri all earn within the range of £185,000 – £199,999. Ros Atkins is on £290,000 – £294,999, while Faisal Islam and Chris Mason both earn between £260,000 – £264,999. Simon Jack, Jeremy Bowen, Katya Adler, Fergal Keane, and Sarah Smith all earn within the range of £225,000-£244,999.

Lyse Doucet and Mark Easton are on £205,000-£209,999, while Orla Guerin, Jonny Dymond, and John Simpson earn between £190,000-£199,999. Greg James earns £415,000-£419,999, Vernon Kay is on £320,000 – 324,999, Scott Mills and Sara Cox both earn between £315,000 – £319,999, Jeremy Vine is on £285,000 – £289,999, and Jo Whiley earns between £245,000 – £249,999. Trevor Nelson – £235,000 – £239,999. Steve Wright – £205,000- £209,999. Gary Davies – £200,000 – £204,999.
