As the show kicked off live on Thursday, Roman was visibly buzzing with excitement. Welcoming the audience with her usual charm, Welsh presenter Alex announced: “Hello there it’s Thursday, and you’re watching The One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer with Roman Kemp and Alex Jones.”

She then turned to an elated Roman who couldn’t help but exclaim: “I’ve got to say it what a result for England last night at the Euros, come on! Feels like it’s coming home.” Alex, picking up on his high spirits, teased: “Well, you were there, weren’t you? ” To which a slightly bashful Roman confessed: “I haven’t been to bed…” quickly correcting himself with a cheeky: “I have mum, sorry.”

Ever the professional, Alex reassured her co-host, saying: “I’ve got it, don’t worry, I’ve got it,” before diving into the evening’s star-studded lineup, which boasted appearances from Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, alongside Jenna Coleman of BBC’s new drama The Jetty , reports Wales Online. However, the conversation quickly turned back to football, with presenter Jermaine Jenas dialling in from Germany to join Alex and Roman via video link. He teased: “I hope we all get to say those magical three words on Sunday that I’m not going to be saying right now, but fingers crossed.” Back in the studio, an enthusiastic Roman couldn’t resist: “Ah, do you know what? I’m going to say the three magical words, it’s coming home.” Alex playfully chided him, “There you are you’ve done it now,” to which Roman replied confidently: “Come on, you’ve got to get behind them, the whole country is invested.” Curious, Alex probed further: “Are you going back to see the one [game] on Sunday? ” prompting Roman to sheepishly admit and apologise to his mum on air for a second time. “I might be, I haven’t told my mum, sorry,” he confessed. Roman, famed for his role as a radio host on Capital FM’s breakfast show and his third-place finish in the nineteenth series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, isn’t the only star in his family.
