The beloved TV host, 47, had been notably absent from her regular spot after being hit with a severe cough. Kicking off the programme, Alex cheerily greeted viewers with: “Hello there and welcome to your Thursday One Show live on BBC One and iPlayer with Roman Kemp.” Her co-host Roman commented on her hoarse voice: “And a very croaky Alex Jones.” To which Alex apologised to the audience, saying: “Sorry if I cough through this.” Roman showed his concern for Alex’s well-being following her comeback, asking: “No it’s ok. Are you feeling a lot better? ” Alex replied with positive news: “I am yes. A lot better”, reports Wales Online.

Prompting Roman to express: “It’s lovely to have you back.” The viewers at home didn’t take long to express their worry for the presenter. One viewer lamented on X, previously known as Twitter; “Oh Alex’s throat sounds sore #TheOneShow.” While another viewer tweeted: “#TheOneShow oh dear Alex doesn’t sound well.” Elsewhere, another viewer questioned: “Couldn’t they have found someone to replace Alex? #TheOneShow.” Alex has been open about the challenges she faced with her flu symptoms while caring for her three children Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, two, alongside her husband Charlie Thomson, admitting it was “really hard.”

Keeping her followers updated, the down-to-earth star took to Instagram Stories with a candid video, appearing without makeup as she shared her situation. She shared: “I’ve been absolutely poleaxed by some sort of flu for the last couple of days. I know it doesn’t look like it, but I do feel quite a lot better than I did, especially on Friday, but my voice is now taking a hit.” Her usual remedies hadn’t done the trick, leading Alex to reach out to her fans for advice on quick fixes. “I was just hoping that somebody would have some sort of remedy that helps bring your voice back.

“We’ve got a podcast to record tomorrow, which I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’ve tried steaming, I’ve tried white wine, vinegar, and you know, a bit of water and gargling it… nothing.” She went on: “All the usual tricks, but if you know something specific that I might not have thought about, I’ll try anything at this point.” Alex also mentioned: “Even communicating with the children is really hard because they’re like, ‘Oh mama,’ I’m like, ‘Stop doing that'”.
