Presenters Roman Kemp and Alex Scott returned to the green sofa on Thursday (August 29) evening and welcomed ex-Pop Idol judge Nicki Chapman and comedian Bob Mortimer onto the show to discuss their latest projects. During the episode, Jeff Brazier hosted the most recent One Big Thank You segment, visiting Steve, who has made a significant difference in people’s lives by converting his hair salon into a sanctuary for those undergoing cancer treatment. The salon owner was moved to tears when Celebrity Race Across The World star Jeff surprised him with the news that he’d been nominated for the special recognition.

Jeff pretended to host a podcast, during which Steve revealed that he had lost his beloved mother to cancer just 12 weeks after her diagnosis, prompting him to open the sanctuary, reports Wales Online. Steve was visibly emotional while speaking to Jeff, and his story also brought viewers at home to tears. On X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer wrote: ‘No my eyes are not leaking’ accompanied by several crying face emojis. Another said: “Well done Steve you are amazing great one big thank you tonight.”

A third viewer commented: “B****y hell #TheOneShow got me blubbing like a baby with #onebigthankyou what a lovely man Steve is.” A fourth praised: “What a lovely fella Steve is.” Steve was left utterly astonished when regular presenter Alex Jones sent him a video message. This surprise comes in the wake of the Welsh star discussing her tenure on the beloved magazine show.

Having been a mainstay on the BBC programme since 2010, the host recently opened up in an interview about her commitment to the show, confessing she has no intention of leaving and stressing that “longevity is key” for her career. “I can’t even believe I’m still there,” she shared with Bella magazine. “I just go in, do the job and hope no one notices I’m still there.
