Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Toyah Willcox caused a stir among viewers after she seemed to take a playful swipe at fellow contestant Chris McCausland. The 66-year-old singer and her dance partner Neil Jones were the latest pair to be voted off the BBC show on Sunday night, after finding themselves in the bottom two and losing out to Paul Merson and Karen Hauer in a nail-biting dance-off. Following their departure, Toyah and Neil appeared on Monday’s episode of the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two with host Fleur East. When asked by Fleur if she had any advice for the remaining contestants, Toyah couldn’t resist making a cheeky comment about Chris. “If you don’t want to do a dance-off, get rid of Chris,” she laughed, leaving Fleur momentarily speechless. Neil tried to lighten the mood by joking: “I think she has chosen her winner.”

However, viewers quickly took to social media to share their reactions to the awkward moment, reports the Express. One viewer tweeted: “Was it panic I saw on their faces when Toyah said ‘get rid of Chris if you don’t want to do a dance off ‘ …little does she realise Chris is a 100x better dancer than she was and he is there on merit #ItTakesTwo.” (sic) Viewers were left baffled and divided over Toyah’s recent appearance. One person took to Twitter questioning, “#strictly … Toyah? What was that about? ” While another expressed discomfort at the interaction: “Oh, Toyah, that’s not it! That was awkward for both Fleur and Neil #Ittakestwo.” (sic) The comments didn’t end there, with one viewer slamming Toyah’s behaviour: “That was such a nasty dig Toyah just made at Chris. Malicious, vicious and jealous. Good riddance #strictly.” (sic)

Questions were raised about Toyah’s intentions by another fan who wrote: “Was Toyah trying to throw Chris under the bus!! #ItTakesTwo.” (sic) But it wasn’t all negative, as some Strictly fans welcomed her return, with tweets like: “Toyah looks great on #ittakestwo.” (sic) Admiration for Toyah’s performance came in from other quarters too, with another fan writing: “Remember Toyah is 66!! She did amazing on the show.” (sic) Another supporter mentioned age being no limit, writing: “Well said Toyah about your age. Just like Angela Rippon proved last year as well. Age is definitely no barrier to success. #Strictly.” (sic) Strictly: It Takes Two returns tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
