Tributes have been made on the post confirming Michael’s death. His co-star, Charles Hanson said in a statement: “Rest in peace @baggottsilver A giant of our antique industry, our ‘Arthur Negus’ and never afraid to call out ‘an expert who got it wrong including myself. Michael’s thirst for knowledge for the object within’ merited far more TV time too for a true and proper expert”, reports The Mirror. Other tributes have been made online, as one person wrote: “This is so upsetting. A true gentleman. God bless him.” A second wrote: “I’m so very sorry to hear this. Such an interesting expert on #Flogit! Michael was an intelligent and interesting man, bringing a touch of irreverence & humour to this miserable world. I will miss him. Condolences to all his family and friends.”

Other tributes read: “So sad to hear about Michael an amazing authority on silver he will be sadly missed RIP Michael” and: “Very sad news, he was always very helpful and pleasant to me. An important and valuable asset to the antiques industry. His knowledge and passion inspired many of us. I will miss his instagram and Twitter posts. Condolences to the family.” Back in December, Michael revealed that he had been hospitalised and shared a series of videos from his hospital bed. He concerned fans with one video in which he claimed he was “dying of thirst”. He later gave his followers more context, revealing he’d had his “fifth bed bound week,” before sharing another update saying he was feeling “happier” and “more hopeful.” In another video, Michael said, “Hydration at last, Radio 3 blaring and slightly happier, slightly more hopeful. Thank you for everybody who either came or sent a message. Hopefully the way back starts now.”
