Privacy NoticeFreddie Slater suspects that Bianca Jackson might be struggling with ADHD, after the Walford favourite has been going to great lengths to bring Reiss Colwell to justice. Bianca, played by soap icon Patsy Palmer, is on a mission to free her sister Sonia Fowler from prison, as the much-loved nurse was framed for Debbie’s murder by her own fiancé. Despite her conviction that Reiss is the real villain, many in Albert Square think she’s losing control and one notable resident, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), has pleaded with her to seek help for her depression. However, this Thursday (October 3, 2024), Bianca found herself confronted by another worried Walford local in the café as Freddie Slater (played by Strictly’s Bobby Brazier) offered his own diagnosis, based on his personal experience, suggesting she may be battling with ADHD.

As regular viewers of the London-based soap will recall, Freddie himself was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) shortly after his return to Albert Square, and while he’s not a certified professional, Freddie’s suggestion isn’t entirely outlandish, reports the Mirror. The developmental disorder, ADHD, impacts a person’s behaviour and can make daily functioning challenging. It’s seen as a dysfunction of executive functioning, primarily involving the frontal lobe. Experts recognise that the frontal lobe plays a vital role in our everyday life as it’s responsible for higher cognitive functions like memory, emotions, impulse control, problem-solving, social interaction, and motor function. Symptoms of ADHD include difficulty paying attention and staying on task, making organisation a challenge. It can also lead to episodes of hyperactivity and impulsivity. It often coexists with other conditions such as autism and depression.

But how does this relate to Bianca? Long-time fans of the London-based show will recall that Bianca has always been somewhat scattered and never backed down from public confrontations. Recent episodes have shown her struggling with symptoms of depression, suggesting that Freddie might be onto something. In his real life, actor Bobby Brazier has first-hand experience of ADHD after his younger brother Freddie was given the diagnosis when he was in school. On an episode of the latest series of Celebrity Race Across the World, Freddie and and the pair’s dad Jeff spoke about his childhood experiences. Discussing his memories of of school, Freddie said it was a tactical fight for focus after being given the ADHD diagnosis when he was 10. “I don’t think I was bad but I weren’t good,” he said. Jeff also expressed huge pride in his son, saying: “”I couldn’t hazard a guess on how Fred’s mind works but I know he’s going to do something amazing in his lifetime.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
