Privacy NoticeBBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has opened up about her “perfect wedding day” drama. The 62 year old TV star tied the knot for the second time with police officer Steve Randal last December. Although the day was perfect, the weather was not on the couple’s side. The pair, who first set eyes on each other seven years ago, have been inseparable ever since. On Tuesday’s (July 23) episode of The One Show, Carol joined comedian Tom Allen and hosts Alex Jones and Anita Rani. She was there to discuss her latest romantic novel, “Once Upon a Time in Venice,” but the conversation quickly turned towards her real-life romance.

Anita started off by praising Carol’s new book: “You’ve given us a reason to put down our phones. You have a new novel set in Venice with three women in one of the world’s most romantic places.” Carol responded enthusiastically: “First of all I love Venice because it has everything. It’s so romantic, it’s got history, art, culture and little alleyways as well and when you walk down you can get lost in it and there are no street lights so it’s great for hiding little secrets.” The focus swiftly turned back to Carol’s own romantic journey when Alex chimed in: “Your real life Carol has been quite romantic since we last met. You got married in December, you say the weather wasn’t on your side, which is terrible when you’re booking a wedding but you looked super happy and super beautiful.” Wanting to know more about Carol’s newlywed life, she asked: “So how is it? ” To which Carol gushed: “It’s going fabulously and I couldn’t be happier.” “It was the perfect day, it was a small intimate wedding, it was beautiful and very romantic,” gushed the bride about her big day.

Spilling the beans on how her dream wedding nearly turned into a disaster, she said: “There was a storm, can you believe it – Storm Gerrit. We booked it, obviously it was a bit in advance and we didn’t know there was going to be a storm.” She went on to say: “I was watching it in the lead up to the wedding and I was thinking ‘no’ but on the actual day we didn’t even notice.” Alex chimed in with a bit of superstition: “They say rain on the ring is good luck apparently.” “Oh is it, I’ll take that,” a taken aback Carol responded. Casting a glance at Carol, Tom remarked: “Well never heard that before but it’ll be a lovely title for your next book.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
