Privacy NoticeAmanda Abbington was seen with her fiance Jonathan Goodwin and children Joe, 18, and Grace, 16, at the after party for her play When It Happens To You in London on Tuesday 6 August, just days after she received a death threat at the theatre. The actress, who shares her children with ex-husband Martin Freeman, posed with her family while wearing a Women’s Aid red t-shirt and jeans after the performance. Amanda is appearing at the Park Theatre in London in the play directed by Jez Bond and written by bestselling author Tawni O’Dell. She stars in the thriller as a mother desperately trying to hold her family together after a devastating event changes the course of their lives. The production is due to run until 31 August. During the evening, Amanda also posed with her castmates in the play, Rosie Day, Miles Molan and Tok Stephen, and writer Tawni. The Sherlock actress is currently at the centre of a BBC investigation regarding her treatment as a celebrity contestant on Strictly Come Dancing last year, in which she was paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice. In an interview with Krishnan-Guru Murphy on Channel 4 about When It Happens To You, she compared her time on Strictly with her experience rehearsing the new theatre production. “This play has certainly reinforced my belief that you can be in a rehearsal room and be nurtured and looked after,” she said. “Because you start to think, ‘oh, you know, am I going mad?’ but I’m not mad, as you know, but yeah it’s been brutal and relentless and unforgiving.” Amanda previously spoke about online threats she had received since coming forward, and her appearance at the after party with her supportive family comes just days after it was reported that the actress had received a ‘death threat’ that is being investigated by police.

The Sun revealed that the star received an email threatening she would “die on stage” unless she withdrew her complaint about dancer Giovanni Pernice, her former partner on Strictly Come Dancing 2023. The Metropolitan Police issued a statement to the PA news agency: “Police were called at around 4pm on Friday August 2 by a staff member at a theatre in Finsbury Park following receipt of an alleged malicious communication. There have been no arrests, inquiries are ongoing.” After leaving Strictly last year, Amanda lodged a formal complaint about Giovanni Pernice’s teaching methods, citing “medical” and “personal” reasons at the time. Speaking to The Sunday Times in July, the TV and theatre star described the aftermath as “really brutal”, revealing she had received “death threats and rape threats.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
