The 50 year old actress’s sudden departure from the show in October last year left audiences stunned, as their dynamic performance had placed them among the top contenders. The BBC dance extravaganza took a shocking turn with Amanda’s claims of verbal abuse and sexually improper behaviour during practice sessions with Giovanni. Six out of seventeen complaints filed by the Sherlock actress were validated by a BBC inquiry, with two concerning alleged sexual impropriety.

Now a throwback video has surfaced, showing Amanda overjoyed with praise for her dance mate. In the footage, Amanda is casually waiting in her car to collect her children, Joe and Grace, chatting about the hectic routine including spray tans and giggles at rehearsals with Giovanni, especially due to their mutual penchant for cursing. “We have to be careful, because we swear a lot, me and Giovanni. We are really bad swearers. We make each other laugh with our swearing,” she chuckled in the video. “We did our dance for the first time in the studio – three times for the cameras. I love our dance, it’s a beautiful thing. He’s an incredible choreographer, Giovanni, he’s amazing. And he’s created something really beautiful, I think. So, we’re both very pleased,” Amanda gushed about her Strictly experience. Despite their promising start last year, things quickly went downhill and Amanda left the show under a cloud of mystery, reports the Mirror.

The truth about her departure came to light earlier this year when she accused Giovanni of inappropriate behaviour, which he denied, sparking a BBC investigation. Giovanni was cleared of most allegations, including physical aggression. Amanda opened up about her “year of hell” on Newsnight with Victoria Derbyshire earlier this month. In a chat with The Sun, she revealed that she found two lumps in her breast just hours before deciding to quit Strictly. She confessed that she “just couldn’t concentrate” during rehearsals and the health scare was the final straw that led her to leave the show for good. “It was the catalyst I’d been sort of waiting for, which is terrible.
