Split from wife Alex broke headlines in 2020 when it was revealed he had split from his wife Natalia Beresford, formerly Natkaniec – they also have a son called Cruz. The pair actually split in 2019 but decided to continue living together for a while in order to take their split slowly. Talking about this on the Britain Get Talking podcast at the time, Alex said: “As we kind of moved into the summer, myself and Natalia decided we were going to part ways, which, you know me – I’m not a quitter, and I hate quitting things. “We tried to work through things, but at some point you realise the best thing to do for everybody is walk away, but walking away is never easy.

“We were in the same house up until the beginning of this year, knowing that we were parting ways, it takes a while to figure things out.” The presenter moved out two weeks before the first lockdown hit in March 2020. ‘The woman I love’ Later that year in August 2020, Alex was set up on a blind date by a mutual friend where he met Imogen McKay. The romance between the pair blossomed and in October 2022 the pair tied the knot at a stunning clifftop ceremony in Majorca at the Son Marroig estate. Speaking to Hello! magazine about the wedding, Alex said: “I was blown away by the beauty of it all. One of my cousins said it was like being in a movie and it really was. It was incredible from start to finish. But most importantly, it was where I was marrying the woman I love.” His son, Cruz who was 12 years old at the time, acted as a ring bearer and a “mini best man”. The couple tied the knot on September 19, coinciding with the Queen’s funeral.

Marking their first anniversary yesterday, Alex wrote on X, formerly Twitter alongside a black and white snap from their wedding down as they walked as newlyweds down the aisle: “This time last year I sat pensively beside my son in the corner of a small cafe in the little village of Deia, trying to take in the late Queen’s funeral on a tiny tv mounted close to the ceiling, whilst deep in thought about the day ahead – our wedding.” Son’s heartache In 2021, Alex revealed his heartache to The Sun when he was shockingly asked “what shade of cocoa” his son would be before he was born. The conversation had been brought up following Meghan Markle’s revelation that she had been asked “how dark” her son Archie would be.

Reflecting back on his own experience, he said: “Why the Meghan interview really resonates with me is because an ex-work colleague – not of this show – asked me if I was worried the shade of cocoa my son was going to come out. So I fully understand the hurt that is behind all of that.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for freeStory SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
