Privacy NoticeLee Juggurnauth – a host on Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun – has taken to Instagram to called for the race riots in the UK to stop and has pleaded with people to “unite and show support”. Sharing his deep concern in the wake of recent racial tensions, Lee also revealed he’s been experiencing hate comments online. He also said racism is something he’s had to ‘endure’ on a ‘regular basis’. The 36 year old TV presenter wrote: “After receiving several comments and messages telling me to ‘Pipe Down’ and ‘Go back to where I came from’, I feel I have a responsibility to speak up. If it means using the small platform that I have to raise awareness, then that’s what I’m going to do. Believe it or not, racism isn’t a new construct for people of colour in the UK. “It is something most of us endure on a regular basis, and the sad reality is that it has become part of our daily lives, making some of us desensitized. “The shocking scenes currently happening in some parts of the UK are inexcusable, and unfortunately, the false rhetoric being spread by the media is preventing the ally ship that we all need.”

The TV star continued his heartfelt post: “Now more than ever, we need to unite and to show support to all humans, as that’s what we are. Race, religion, and immigration status should not matter. Whether or not this affects you directly, educating yourselves on the positive impact of immigration in the UK is a small step in the right direction. “I’m extremely proud to be the child of two immigrant parents who have dedicated their lives to serving the NHS. I understand the impact on those who continue to be affected by waves of racism. Everyone deserves the right to live in a world free of racism and violence, and it is crucial that we all unite in solidarity to put an end to this.”

The count of individuals charged in relation to the unrest continues to climb, following the initial wave of far-right riots last week, sparked by the murder of three young girls in Stockport. The violent race riots appear to be linked to the horrific July 29 event in Southport, where three girls lost their lives, and several were injured at a dance class with a Taylor Swift theme. Seventeen year old Axel Muganwa Rudakubana from Banks in Lancashire faces charges for this dreadful crime and three counts of murder and ten counts of attempted murder are weighing against him.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
