Privacy NoticeA Devil Wears Prada sequel is said to be in the works – with Meryl Streep believed to be reprising her iconic role of high-powered magazine editor Miranda Priestly. Puck News reported that a follow-up to the original 2006 film is being worked out. But it’s not yet known whether Anne Hathaway will return as Andy Sachs in the Disney motion picture. However Emily Blunt is set to return as Emily Charlton – who we last saw as Priestley’s long-suffering assistant. According to Variety, The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is in talks about a return to pen the sequel. Early reports have indicated the movie will tell the story of Priestly going up against her former colleague Charlton, who is now a high-powered executive.

She told E! News: “I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.” Hathaway joked the trio will ‘continue to give out awards to other people’, but rubbished the idea of a sequel. The actress admitted she ‘would love’ to see the trio reunite with director David Frankel, but she wants the original movie to stand alone. She said: “The truth of the matter is – with any film – all we can do is make it. The reason that movie felt so special was that we were a team and we did that work, but really it’s the love that everybody pours to it. Let’s just keep the thing that we all agree with love.”

Hathaway played aspiring journalist Sachs in the movie, who is hired as a personal assistant to fashion magazine editor Priestly. But Devil Wears Prada fans all made the same demand as they reacted to the sequel news on X, formerly Twitter. @lipaxagb reckoned: “This will either be incredible or terrible, but if they are doing it we need Anne back too” as @___Isaiahs said: “Full og cast or nothing.” Commenting on the sequel’s plot centring on Priestly and Charlton facing off, @lingayfong asked: “where does miss hathaway fit into this?” as @cinemichh wondered: “do we also get anne hathaway and stanley tucci back?” @eligiblewanda reckoned: “Need Anne to at least make an appearance”. Not everyone was super enthusiastic about the prospect of a Devil Wears Prada sequel, though. @antii_s0cial suggested: “If anythinggggg, I’d like a Prequel! Show us how hard Miranda worked to get to her success” as @dorysief criticised: “idk what I would make the plot a devil wears prada sequel but this has gotta be one of the least interesting ideas they could do.”Story SavedYou can find this story in My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
