Eleanor from Manchester introduced herself as a “fleegan”, explaining that she’s a flexible vegan, leaving a puzzled 64 year old Bradley staring at her in confusion. When Bradley asked Eleanor about her hobbies, she replied: “I like to cook for friends, so recently I’ve been trying to cook vegan.” He then queried: “Are you vegan now,” to which she responded: “I try to be, a fleegan.” A baffled Bradley asked: “A fleegan, what’s a fleegan?,” and Eleanor explained: “A flexible vegan”, reports the Express.

The Gladiators presenter couldn’t help but laugh off the comment, holding his head in his hands as the studio audience also burst into laughter. Fans of the show were equally perplexed, taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their thoughts on the contestant’s remark. One X user quipped: “I’m vegan apart from the milk in my coffee and my leather shoes,” while another wrote: “So, not a vegan then, Eleanor #TheChase.” Another viewer exclaimed: “A flexible vegan. WTF #TheChase,” while someone else commented: “A flegan? A Flexible vegan? ! #TheChase.A fifth ITV viewer joked: “A flexible vegan = she’ll bend over backwards for avocado on toast… #TheChase.” And a sixth chimed in with: “Part time vegetarian gets vegetarian question.. #thechase”.

Some viewers were more understanding of Eleanor’s unique approach to veganism on The Chase, with tweets of support like: “Well done Eleanor #TheChase,” celebrating her progress to the next round. Eleanor and her trio of teammates made it all the way to The Chase finale, squaring off against quiz genius Paul Sinha for a tempting cash reward. However, victory was not in their stars as they were defeated with just 15 seconds left on the clock, leaving them empty-handed. Bradley has been presenting the game show for a wapping 15 years and recently revealed there’s only one reason why he’d ever step down.

He told the Daily Mail: “Until people say they’ve had enough and start switching off I’ll do it. We’ve had such an extraordinary time together. It’s the best job in the world.” Bradley also said that he knew straight away that The Chase was a show that would last. Talking about the pilot, he recalled: “The audience was made up of ITV bosses and they found someone in the office to be a contestant.
