Privacy NoticeCheryl Tweedy sent fans into a heartache spiral once more on Friday evening as she shared a never-before-seen snapshot featuring Liam Payne with their son Bear, opening up about the tragedy for the first time. Capturing the pure joy of becoming a new dad, Liam was seen lovingly staring at his son, reaching out to him in an intimate black and white photo. Despite the relationship challenges Cheryl and Liam faced – calling it quits shortly after Bear’s first birthday – as they learned to navigate co-parenting, Liam’s dedication to Bear shone through, even during tough times. In her statement last night, Cheryl expressed her sorrow for their son who now faces the harrowing truth of growing up without his father.

Liam tragically passed away on Wednesday night due to injuries sustained from plummeting off a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The incident left fans across the globe in disbelief, having followed the Wolverhampton lad from his initial X Factor trials to his climb to fame as a member of One Direction, one of the most iconic boy bands ever. From a young prodigy at 16, Liam had accrued a vast fortune by the time he took on fatherhood at just 23 years old, reports the Mirror. Allegedly worth a staggering £46 million, Liam, in a poignant interview last year, implied that his wealth was destined for Bear, saying: “My life now is his, my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to or [he can sell them].” Liam also contributed towards a £4million home for Cheryl and Bear in the quaint Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Peter. Following his split from Cheryl, Liam invested in a nearby property. Discussing his co-parenting experience with Cheryl, Liam praised her as “the best mum in the world” and expressed gratitude for her allowing him “full autonomy” to focus on his career – and later address his mental health struggles, while she took care of Bear.

In July of the previous year, Liam shared that he had completed 100 days in a Louisiana rehab after reaching ‘rock bottom’, and he gratefully acknowledged Cheryl’s support during this time. “More than anything, I want to say thank you to [Bear] and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well in that moment because I had to,” he confessed. Asked in 2022 how frequently he saw his son, Liam revealed: “I see him two times a week, three times a week sometimes. And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or d*****g around somewhere else.” So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life. He needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.” In one of his final posts about Bear before his tragic passing, Liam affectionately referred to the youngster as his ‘mini me. ‘.

Cheryl, of Girls Aloud fame, also conveyed her profound sadness as she publicly addressed Liam’s passing for the first time on Friday, a somber reflection on their once high-profile romance from 2016 to 2018. In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.” Accompanying a touching black and white photo of Liam with Bear, she continued: “Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.” The 41 year old finished her heartfelt statement by asking for Payne to be allowed “the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
