Privacy NoticeLiam Payne generously donated £10,000 to assist someone in need just a few weeks before his passing in Argentina on Wednesday, 16 October. The 31 year old tragically fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, with local authorities currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. His family and friends, including his former One Direction bandmates, have been paying heartfelt tributes to the singer, who was also a father to 7 year old son Bear, whom he shared with ex Cheryl. Many of the tributes to the singer highlighted his extensive charitable work, revealing that Liam had spent £10,000 in one night to help those in need. On September 30, moved by heart-wrenching stories on GoFundMe, Liam decided to use some of his reported £46million fortune to help others. He donated £2,300 to support Jack, a 28 year old cancer patient in the US. He then gave £3,833 to assist four year old Macy Shepard, who was diagnosed with a rare kidney tumour, and contributed £770 towards a girl’s medical bills after she was injured in a school shooting in America. His final donation was £2,223 to aid stroke victim Kailyn, who is only four years old, reports the Mirror. Liam opened up to The Sun about his heartfelt reason for donating, as thoughts of his son Bear pushed him to take action, especially with the healthcare struggles in the US: “As a father, it hits me differently. I have been spending the last few nights trying to finish off the donations so they can get the operations they need – they would be free in my country,” he shared.

He voiced his empathy towards sick children stating, “I can’t not look at a sick child and not see Bear. I’m not asking for people to say well done or I’m amazing.” The One Direction star has a history of charitable efforts, including participating in Soccer Aid for Unicef two years running to help children globally, and collaborating with the Trussell anti-poverty charity in his Wolverhampton hometown. In 2020, Liam made a significant promise to back up Trussell’s crucial initiatives to distribute meals across the UK.

Throughout the Covid pandemic, Liam didn’t just donate; he got hands-on by volunteering at his local food bank and funding over 360,000 meals for those hit hard by the crisis, extending his reach to over 100 food banks in cities such as Birmingham, Coventry, and Stoke-on-Trent. The generous singer expressed his commitment during that period: “I want to play my part in finding a solution to ensure people have enough money to buy their own food – and end the need for food banks,” he commented back then. Trussell released a statement following the news of Liam’s passing, paying tribute to the selfless star who had touched the lives of thousands. “His death is a very tragic loss, and our thoughts are with his loved ones,” the charity stated, adding that they “greatly appreciate the compassion and kindness he always showed to people facing hunger and hardship”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
