Privacy NoticeNetflix has dropped yet another spine-tingling documentary and true crime aficionados are in for an edge-of-their-seat experience. The two-part series tells the intense tale of Cathy Terkanian, whose life was turned upside down in April 2010 when she learnt that her daughter, whom she had put up for adoption 35 years prior, had gone missing from her adoptive home as far back as 1989. The documentary captures Cathy’s relentless journey along with a private investigator and local law enforcement, desperate to uncover the mysteries surrounding her child’s disappearance over the decade-long search. Charlize Theron has co-produced the film, working alongside Jessica Hargrave, Matt Maher, and the director Ryan White, spearheading this moving case onto the screen.

When speaking to Tudum, Ryan emphasized Charlize’s profound connection to the story, having become an adoptive mother to her two children in 2012 and 2015, reports the Mirror. He said: “I remember in that conversation how incredibly passionate Charlize was she didn’t feel like a superstar when you were talking to her. “She felt like an adoptive mother who felt passionately that this was the worst case scenario of what could happen with adoption.” In an intimate chat with the publication, Charlize shared her insights as she expressed: “Cathy was resilient and followed her intuition all the way to the end to get answers about her daughter.” She added: “I think that sort of tenacity in the face of a bunch of people telling you you’re wrong is something that really resonates with audiences. We so often are taught to trust our gut, but rarely see it in action.”
