Privacy Notice Strictly Come Dancing fans have questioned Jamie Borthwick’s partner for this year’s hit BBC show. It comes after the EastEnders star, 30, won the Strictly Christmas special last year when he was partnered with Nancy Xu, with many believing they should be together again. For the Strictly launch on Saturday, 14 September it was revealed that Jamie is instead partnered with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas. Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to air their views on the pairing as one wrote: “Not going to lie, I really wanted Nancy to be with Jamie again! But, I’m 100% sure Jamie and Michelle will be amazing.”

A second penned: “Now we’ve already seen Jamie Borthwick in the ballroom. He won last year’s Christmas Special with Nancy Xu, you’ll recall.” Others shared their thoughts on this further as one added: “So two of the celebrities this year have already won the Christmas special, are we running out of celebs now.” Another chimed in: “That’s incorrect, JB and Jamie Borthwick have both done the Christmas special and their both doing the main show this series.” Others were more focused on the ones to watch as someone said: “Celebrities to look out for in my opinion Pete Wicks, JB Gill, Sarah Hadland, Tasha Ghouri, Jamie Borthwick (Christmas Winner) and Sam Quek… Already have a soft spot for Chris McCausland he seems like a really great man who will make this season more special.” Jamie was the talk of the town on Saturday night as he was also branded a ‘cheat’ by his Strictly co-star following his former appearance on the show’s Christmas Special. During the show’s launch, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman sat down with the celebrities and their pro dancers to unpack how they were feeling ahead of their upcoming live performances next week.

Tess said: “Jamie you had a taste of Strictly last Christmas,” sparking Wynne Evans, to teasingly interject with: “Cheat! ” followed by a faux cough. Giggles reverberated around the studio, leaving Jamie trying to play it cool amid the chuckles and Tess attempting to move past the jibe. And the moment was followed up on the launch show minutes later when mischievous former TOWIE star Pete Wicks got another well-hearted dig in. Asked by Claudia if he planned to really ‘go for it’ on the series, Pete replied: “I am. I’ll never be here again, will I?
