Privacy NoticeFormer Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice spoke out on the day of the BBC show’s return as he revealed his new TV role with fans saying he’s “missed already”. The Italian professional dancer, 34, left Strictly earlier this year but is now taking part in an Italian dance competition show, which is very similar to Strictly. In an Instagram post on the morning of Saturday, 14 September, the same day that Strictly returned to our screens, Giovanni beamed in a series of photos as he shared his TV dancing venture. In a joint Instagram post with Bianca Guaccero, an Italian actress and singer, the pair posed for various snaps as they confirmed their partnership for the dance competition Ballando con le Stelle.

Ballando con le Stelle is an Italian dance competition where professional dancers are paired with a celebrity in a bid to impress judges and win the show – an incredibly similar format to Strictly which Giovanni waved goodbye to just months ago. In the new post, the caption read, having been translated from Italian: “Sweat it out but… happy, charged, willing to give it their all and very ready to make you have fun and dream! 28th September is getting closer and closer. Are you ready to support us?” Giovanni commented underneath the post with: We get ready, First week done!”. This prompted fans to comment on his absence from Strictly on Saturday night as one wrote: “missing you on strictly already.” A second said: “You were definitely missed this evening. BUT you look super happy here. Pleased for you, go smash it!” While another penned: “You look so happy! You will be missed here in UK.” Just a few days ago, Giovanni also announced a huge epic dance tour called The Last Dance, with dates lighting up Blackpool, Belfast, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dublin, Cardiff, and a host of other spots. In his Instagram confirming the show, he wrote: “You know where to find me! !”

His new career moves come after Giovanni found himself in the hot seat facing bullying claims when his dance partner Amanda Abbington stepped up with her side of the story earlier in the year. Giovanni claimed it was ‘not true’ and has since turned the page from these dramas. Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
