Privacy Notice Nick Knowles is one of the 15 celebrities taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, but it’s been revealed that he has a secret dance background, which could give him a huge advantage in taking home the Glitterball trophy. It comes as a past TV appearance has resurfaced where the DIY SOS star can be seen throwing some impressive dance moves. In honour of the first Strictly live show, which kicked off on Saturday, 21 September, Channel 5 took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a forgotten clip of Nick dancing and it proved he’s already mastered some ballroom moves. In the caption they wrote: “One tango in Buenos Aires and look where @MrNickKnowles is now.”

The TV presenter, 62, could be seen gracefully dancing the tango with his partner, while dressed in a smart suit. While it’s a short clip shared by Channel 5, Nick looks comfortable as he glides around and shows some of his dancing talents. The clip is from the Channel 5 series Nick Knowles in South America, which saw the presenter travel from Chile to Argentina and aired in June. Nick was the first celeb on Saturday night to take to the Strictly dancefloor with his professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk. The pair energetically danced the jive to Starship’s 1985 hit We Built This City dressed in a high-vis vest and builder’s clothes, with a silver shirt underneath. Despite the new clip emerging of his former dancing, Nick admitted ahead of the first Strictly live show that he would have to be taught how to dance. He said: “I’ve spent my whole life learning new skills and I’ve never been afraid of a challenge. There’s life in the old dog yet to take on one more big one – being taught how to dance! I’ll give it my everything… and try not to embarrass my kids, of course!”

Good effort for week one.” A second commented: “Whilst #Strictly is on, Nick Knowles will be the nation’s dad. He’s just got that nice dad quality doesn’t he? He did well.” A third added: “Gobsmacked, Nick wasn’t too bad. Thought he was gonna be awful,” while a fourth praised his outfit: “Yes, Nick and Luba! That was so much fun! I want glittery Hi Vis gear now!” When it came time for the judges to weigh in, the scores weren’t great, but were perfectly acceptable for a first performance.

Nick was dressed as a builder for his first dance on Strictly

While Nick stood looking justifiably proud that he had got through the routine, Craig Revel Horwood, with his new beard, was in pantomime villain mode and awarded him just three points, while the other three judges, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke, each scored Nick and Luba five points.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
