Privacy NoticeViewers of Bradley Walsh were on the edge of their seats during an episode where a contestant nearly bagged £75,000 in a tense solo effort. Some fans even controversially suggested that the show was “rigged” after seeing how the events played out. Host Bradley Walsh introduced players Charlie, George, Sophia, and James, but the game took a challenging turn as the first three contestants were quickly eliminated, leaving James to go head-to-head with The Governess, Anne Hegerty. James showed remarkable nerve in his cash builder round and bravely chose to chase a staggering £75,000 by taking on Anne alone. In a high-pressure situation, he impressively answered 18 questions correctly, setting up a nail-biting finish.

Anne faltered on her final question, giving James a sliver of hope for a pushback. However, his incorrect answer only added to the already sky-high drama. With just four seconds left and a huge £75,000 at stake, host Bradley let out a sigh, “Oh wee… £75,000 in the balance. Chaser needs one with four seconds remaining. Here we go,” reports the Mirror. Bradley then cued, “Your time starts again now.” The suspense hit its peak when Anne thwarted James’ chances by catching him with a mere two seconds left, eliciting a wave of disappointment from the viewers at home. The Chase became the centre of controversy as fans flooded social media with their frustrations and claims of unfair play. When host Bradley Walsh hesitated before resuming the game, accusations against the show’s integrity soared.

An irate fan pointedly commented: “Rigged for Anne last question 100percent #thechase” Over on Twitter, a viewer expressed disappointment succinctly with: “#thechase Very harsh.” “Find it very interesting how Brad give it such a slow build up then a question comes up that can easily be interrupted/answered correctly within those 4 seconds… well-done itv you’ve rigged it to save yourselves 75k. #TheChase,” penned another. While some viewers had a more sympathetic stance, such as one who said: “That’s cruel. Chaser should’ve let him get the £75K #thechase”, another bluntly declared: “Unforgivable,” as another wrote: “What an incredible performance by James £75,000 should have been his I feel for him.” A disheartened tweet read: “Well, that was a really disappointing ending. James absolutely deserved that win after all we’ve suffered tonight. God damn Rolls-Royce! #TheChase.” Finally, reflecting the sentiments of many disappointed fans, a comment summed up the episode: “Absolutely amazing James on #thechase gutted he didn’t win the money.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
