Privacy Notice Eamonn Holmes has given a rather telling response to the news that his former colleague Phillip Schofield is set for a dramatic return to television. The 64 year old broadcaster, who’s been quite outspoken about his disdain for Phil, 62, didn’t hold back when Schofield left This Morning amidst a scandal involving an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger colleague. Eamonn took to social media to express his anger, saying: “Schofield has finally been caught out” and slamming ITV as “The ministry of lies.” He also shared his feelings of betrayal, claiming he and his ex-wife Ruth Langsford had been “taken for fools” by Phil, especially after they supported him on live TV during his coming-out moment. Eamonn admitted feeling “felt used and ashamed” after discovering lies from his ITV colleagues, leading to several heated outbursts online.

Now, with Phillip set to make a TV comeback on Channel 5’s Cast Away, Eamonn hasn’t shied away from showing his true feelings, hinting at the ongoing tension between them. The announcement stirred up quite the reaction on GB News’ breakfast show. Host Isabel Webster kicked off the discussion, which clearly didn’t sit well with her, Eamonn, or their guests. “Is this not just the chance for a narcissist to have more me time on screen? ” blasted GP Dr Renee Hoenderkamp, reports the Mirror. She continued, “I don’t want to know his story, I’m not interested in it. I know that he’s a celeb and people do seem to lap up any news, whether it’s good or bad but I think it’s time maybe he stayed on the island.” Meanwhile, former Home Office Minister Norman Baker expressed his disinterest in Phillip Schofield’s latest project, saying: “So what? I don’t want to know about it, I’m not interested in it. Why is The Sun giving two pages to it? I suppose it sells papers but really, is that the most important thing in the papers? ” Isabel countered, pointing out the significance of Phil’s story: “Well, he was one of our most high-profile presenters in the country, he was married and he had two children when the scandal emerged, he lost all of his TV work including Dancing On Ice, he fell out with his one time best friend and co-host Holly Willoughby, who also quite frankly, didn’t she lose her job off the back of it all?” Isabel added that Phil “had to leave social media” in the wake of his scandal.

Norman Baker responded sarcastically, saying “My heart bleeds,” while Eamonn chuckled and added “Very good.” On Tuesday, 24 September, Phillip announced that he will be sharing his “story of survival” on a Channel 5 programme, where he spent 10 days alone on a desert island with no food, water, or crew. He explained that the experience appealed to him on many levels, allowing him to reflect on his life without the comfort of friends and family. “I’m looking forward to exploring the island, trying to tie knots to secure my shelter and foraging and fending for myself in the wild … with no help. Maybe I’ll be Robinson Crusoe, or maybe I’ll just be Tom Hank’s Wilson and quietly drift off into the wild blue yonder! !”.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
