Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing and EastEnders star Bobby Brazier once opened about about the heartbreakingly simply reason why he ‘doesn’t miss’ his late mum Jade Goody. The actor, 21, has been raised by his father, Celebrity Race Across the World star Jeff Brazier, alongside his younger brother, Freddie, after their mum, former Big Brother star Jade Goody, tragically passed away from cervical cancer in 2009, aged just 27. Bobby was only five when his mum died and he revealed in an interview with The Face that he doesn’t miss her because he feels he wasn’t with her long enough. He said: “I don’t feel like I was with her long enough to miss her. I miss what could’ve been. I hear all the time she was such a presence, that she was one of a kind. What hurts most is that it wasn’t just losing anyone, it was losing Jade. I just would’ve loved to have seen what other people had seen.”

Jade was a loving mum to Bobby and his younger brother, Freddie, and wanted her boys to remember how much she loved them after she was gone – so she left a touching final message in a photo album of her life. She wrote: “Dear Bobby and Freddie – I have asked for this book to be made so that when you are older you can remember just how much fun we had. I thank God that we made the most of our time together and I treasure the moments we shared. “These are my most precious memories. Some person much wiser than me once said that if you never discovered something you would die for, then you haven’t lived. Well, you are both proof that I have lived. I will love you always. Mummy.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Bobby shares a close bond with his TV presenter father, Jeff, who was seen making Bobby dinner when he was appearing on Strictly last year. Doting dad Jeff has even been making packed lunches for Bobby and his partner, Dianne, to keep them fuelled during their gruelling training for the live shows on Saturdays. It was recently revealed that Bobby landed a new role away from EastEnders. The actor, who has won a National Television Award for his role as Freddie Slater in the soap, has joined the cast of Paramount+ drama Curfew, a six-part series that began filming in London earlier this year. Curfew is based on Jayne Cowie’s novel After Dark, and is set in a society governed by ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, where men are all tracked by ankle tags and are confined to their homes by a strict 7pm curfew every night. Sarah Parish stars as Pamela, while Bobby Brazier plays James, a vocal schoolboy who advocates the abolishment of the curfew. He’s not the only ex-EastEnder in the cast either. Lucy Benjamin plays DCI Sue Ferguson, Pamela’s superior, while soap legend Anita Dobson is Janet, a woman who runs a ‘motherhouse’, a refuge-style home for women who do not wish to live with men.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
