Privacy NoticeBridgerton fans may have to double-take as one villain from the show has landed a new role on a BBC drama, but is completely unrecognisable. Episode 2 of BBC comedy-drama Ludwig, which airs on Wednesday, will see Jamie Beamish, who played Bridgerton villain Nigel Berbrooke – take on a guest-role as Ben Naylor, and he looks and sounds completely different. In the Netflix show, set between 1813 and 1827, Jamie can be seen clean shaven with a curly quiff and iconic sideburns. His character, Nigel, took an interest to Daphne, even trying to blackmail her into marry him. Nigel has been described by fans as ‘the one we love to hate’.

Aside from the difference in his looks, Jamie can be heard speaking in his Irish accent during BBC’s Ludwig, as opposed to an English accent in Bridgerton. The actor was born in Waterford, Ireland, and is also known for his role in Irish sitcom Derry Girls. However, they may not recognise the star in Ludwig, set in the present day, as the star has can be seen looking completely different with a ‘bad boy’ persona. Unlike his Bridgerton character, he is seen with a full beard, with his hair in a straight comb over, as he’s questioned by Ludwig.

The first episode of David Mitchell’s series aired this week on the channel, and viewers are absolutely hooked on the new murder mystery series. In the series, David plays accidental detective John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor who is dragged into an exciting adventure after his identical twin brother goes missing, with his sister-in-law, Lucy Betts-Taylor, played by Anna Maxwell Martin. For those eager fans, the whole series of Ludwig is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, and those who have binged the whole thing are already begging BBC to commission a second series of the show. “Dear @BBCOne PLEASE can we have a second series of #Ludwig !!!!” exclaimed one fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote one, as another said: “Just starting episode2 of #Ludwig it’s blooming marvellous. Recommend 100%,” penned another excited fan. “Hard not to be a fan of Ludwig @RealDMitchell, if not for the logic puzzle but also the music. Will try not to binge watch the whole series,” a third penned. Another fan also complimented the soundtrack of the BBC series, as they took to the social media site to write: “ #Ludwig with @RealDMitchell – wonderfully amusing and unexpectedly compelling. Having to binge watch it to reach the end when really, I’ve got things to do!
