Privacy NoticeStrictly Come Dancing’s Gorka Marquez has made an awkward dig at his fiancee Gemma Atkinson, while appearing on Strictly: It Takes Two alongside his partner for this year’s competition, This Morning regular Dr Punam Krishan. Fleur East, who was hosting the show, prompted Gorka to talk about his children and their dancing skills. “Thiago is old enough to watch you on TV,” she said. Gorka replies while throwing shade at his fiancee, “You know what, he’s got the moves and this might sound not good enough for Mia but I think he might have more rhythm than Mia. I think the boys in the family have the moves not the girls, Sorry Gemma.” Dr Punam chimed in to say Gemma might not be so impressed with his comments, which Gorka coyly said: “That’s okay, I’m going to Glasgow,” leaving the panel in hysterical laughter.

Recently, Gorka revealed that he has a secret signal to communicate with his five-year-old daughter while on Strictly. During the first live show of the series, which aired on Saturday, 21 September, Gemma took to Instagram to reveal she was watching the show at home with the couple’s young daughter Mia. Gemma, who also shares son Thiago with Gorka, shared an adorable video of Mia cheering her dad on from the sofa, revealing that Gorka has a special way of paying tribute to Mia while performing on Strictly. As Gorka and Punam exited the dance floor, they made their way to a set of stairs. As they approached the staircase, Gorka enthusiastically waved at the camera, with Gemma revealing this is his way of communicating with Mia. “He promised her a wave before they went up the stairs,” Gemma told fans on Instagram, alongside a clip of Mia smiling at the television. The youngster looked delighted as she spotted her dad on screen.

The adorable moment comes after Gorka opened up about the reality of being away from Gemma and their children while filming Strictly. He penned an emotional social media post about being away from his family, admitting it can lead to him feeling like a “failure”. Admitting that yes, he was full of ‘happiness and joy’ for the start of Strictly for another year, he also had ‘a feeling of sadness, guilt, for going away for however long it is’. He continued reflectively: “A feeling of letting them down for not being there, a sense of failure to them..”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
