Privacy NoticeZoe Ball has revealed how she helped a heavily pregnant woman who had fallen in the street to the hospital . The BBC Radio 2 presenter, 53, was just finishing her breakfast show on Thursday, 17 October when she noticed a commotion near her London home. “There’s a bit of a commotion in the street and this lovely lady is on the ground and people are surrounding her and I’m thinking: ‘Oh my goodness, I hope she’s alright'”, she told listeners on Friday morning. “Anyway, it turns out she’s very heavily pregnant. Really lovely lady. She’s had a fall. She was very shaken up. She was really winded and quite frightened, obviously, because she’s worrying about the baby.”

After revealing she had a car, Zoe was asked if she could drive the expectant mum, whom she dubbed T to preserve her anonymity, to the hospital. Along with another helpful passer-by named Jess, Zoe drove ‘T’ to the hospital, even joking that she was worried she might have to deliver the baby in the back of her car. The radio host revealed that things got more dramatic when they couldn’t get in touch with the woman’s husband, who was in a work meeting, or her mother, or her friends. She continued: “So we get there and I was thinking: ‘I need run the blue lights on the top of the car. I’ve never been an ambulance before.’ But we got her to the hospital and she swapped numbers with Jess and I had to wait all day to find out if she and lovely baby were OK.”

Zoe shared the dramatic story with her radio listeners

Zoe later updated her listeners with good news, confirming that the mother and baby were “absolutely fine” but the lady had fractured some ribs, adding: “Poor love, when you’re heavily pregnant, you’ve got to go through labour, that is going to be painful.” She concluded the story with a heartfelt message: “You just never know where your day’s going to go, do you? “So I’m sending T and her family lots of love and safe happy landings for when you have the baby.” It comes after Zoe recently returned to her breakfast show after a break, having not presented The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show since a brief appearance on August 8, following her summer holiday.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
