Privacy NoticeBBC’s Death in Paradise viewers were left wiping away tears as DS Florence Cassell, played by the talented Josephine Jobert, said her tearful goodbyes to the sun-soaked island of Saint Marie for the final time back in 2022. The episode marked a poignant end for the fan-favourite character who had captivated audiences since 2015. Josephine graced our screens for several years as the fiercely dedicated officer, joining in 2015 at the beginning of its fourth season. However, she officially bowed out at the start of the year, concluding her journey along with her co-star. Throughout her tenure, she took centre stage in some of the show’s most gripping narratives, including her fiery romance with onscreen partner Detective Neville Parker, portrayed by Ralf Little.

In a heartfelt Instagram Q&A session, Josephine doused any flickering hopes of her making a sensational return to the show: “I had a great time and I made the best out of it. I have amazing memories and met amazing people too.” In a five word statement, she shared: “But it’s time to move on.” Amidst the flood of support and nostalgia from fans longing for her comeback, Josephine expressed how moved she was by their affection, even though she stood firm on her departure: “I think I can safely say no [I won’t be back]. I’ve already left and come back many times and I’ve definitely done my time on the show. “But I completely understand why the question is asked. In fact, I am very touched that the public wants to continue following Florence,” reports the Express. When asked whether she missed filming on the stunning Caribbean island, Josephine’s response was simple but definitive: “Not really.” She cut her teeth in English-speaking roles with the detective series back in 2015, and was a regular face until season 11. She did, however, step away briefly in 2019 due to personal and professional engagements.

It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated.” Despite the challenges, he quipped, “Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer whichever happens to be closer at the time!” With an acting portfolio that stretches back to the late 90s, the star’s legacy includes an impressive stint on Eastenders.
