Privacy NoticePhillip Schofield’s daughter Molly has boldly clapped back at online haters after nasty rumours suggested she’s ashamed of her dad. The former presenter of This Morning found himself at the centre of controversy following revelations last year of an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger member of staff. At the time, Phillip expressed regret for misleading statements he had made about the situation and declared the affair was “now over”. Phillip, who came out as gay four years ago, has felt the warmth of his family rallying around him amidst the media storm. His grown-up kids, Molly Schofield, 31, and Ruby Schofield, 28, the children he shares with wife Stephanie Lowe, 60, have been particularly supportive.

However, trolls recently attacked Molly online amid speculation that she swapped ‘Schofield’ for ‘Lowe’ in her surname, insinuating a lack of pride in her famous father. Molly took to Instagram Stories showing how tight-knit she remains with her dad. “What a night, thank you all for the support,” she captioned a snap with her father Phillip. Another photo echoed the sentiment, “Couldn’t be MORE proud,” which was her graceful retort to a comment wondering whether she really carried any pride in her surname. A critic pointedly asked: “So if she’s so proud of him why does she use her mother’s name and go as Molly Lowe? That’s a recent change. She was always Schofield and no doubt was happy to use it.” Not one to mince words, Molly hit back with certainty: “I’m Molly Schofield… and proud to be,” accompanied by the feisty middle finger emoji. Molly, alongside Ruby and Stephanie, appeared on Phillip Schofield’s Channel 5 show Cast Away, with a special glimpse of a family barbecue scene. Molly got candid about her dad Phillip’s revelation, noting on the show: “When my dad came out it was very hard for me. It was very hard for the entire family.” “Mainly my mum, of course – everything was turned upside down. But we talked through it and [over time] it’s got easier.” She continued: “My mum and my sister, we’re all the same. We’ll always continue to support him, no matter what. I never thought it would have gone the way it has.” Phil’s daughter expressed how she feels like the “luckiest person” by having parents who remain “best friends”, despite everything they’ve been through. Opening up further in the new series, Molly divulged how these events have actually brought the whole family “closer”. Speaking emotionally, she shared: “We’ve seen him at his lowest times, but I’ve been so proud of him, and as a daughter to see the love that people had for him that when it’s taken away it’s just heartbreaking.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
