Privacy Notice Since joining Strictly Come Dancing back in 2021 as a professional dancer, Nikita Kuzmin has danced alongside the likes of Tilly Ramsay, Ellie Simmonds and Layton Williams. And in the current series of the BBC One show, Nikita has been partnered with BBC TV star and Olympic gold medallist Sam Quek. But while TV viewers may be familiar with 26 year old Nikita when he’s in front of the cameras, they may know less about him away from the show.

Having grown up in Ukraine, Nikita was nine when his family moved to Italy so that his older sister Anastasia could pursue a dancing career. However, with a talent for dancing evidently running in his family’s blood, the Strictly pro followed in his sibling’s footsteps and he now has six national Italian championship titles to his name. If that wasn’t enough, prior to joining Strictly, Nikita was a dancer on the German competition show Let’s Dance for one series.

Away from the ballroom, Nikita was previously in a relationship with choreographer and designer Nicole Wirt though the star couple split in 2022 after five years together. During their time together, the pair kept their romance relatively low-key and shied away from too many overt displays of affection on social media. Then in October 2022, Nikita was said to be dating Strictly Come Dancing 2022 contestant and CBBC star Molly Rainford after they were reportedly seen flirting. However, Molly is currently in a relationship with Kiss FM DJ boyfriend Tyler West after they were both contestants on the show. In January last year, Nikita was seen holding hands with podcaster Charlie Backshall but now he is known to be dating 23 year old model Lauren Jaine.

While he keeps much of his private life away from the spotlight, Nikita has opened up about living with Type 1 Diabetes and called it his “superpower” after being diagnosed when he was 13. During an appearance on Morning Live, he said: “When I found out, I thought, ‘My career’s over,’ and the next morning I woke up and I saw all those kids smiling and they were happy and they were diabetics just like me. I went out of my room and – this is one of my best memories in my life – there was this wall of fame. “It was all of the famous, successful diabetics – Olympians, Paralympians, presidents, actors – everything. And actually, I think I made quite a few of them up because I thought there was quite a few more people than there actually were.
