Privacy NoticeEamonn Holmes is reportedly standing firm on his actions, which are rumoured to have contributed to the tension in his marriage with Ruth Langsford. The outspoken TV personality parted ways with his wife Ruth in May this year after a 27-year-long relationship. The duo, famed for their joint presenting gigs on shows like This Morning, tied the knot 14 years ago and have a 22 year old son named Jack. However, Eamonn’s apparent animosity towards his ex-This Morning colleague Phillip Schofield and his resentment over his own departure from ITV reportedly became so intense that it started to create an uncomfortable situation for Ruth, who continues to appear on ITV’s Loose Women.

A source close to Eamonn, who has since found love with 42 year old Katie Alexander, disclosed that the broadcaster doesn’t regret the controversial comments he made publicly, despite the potential negative impact on his marriage. The source told the Daily Mail: “Eamonn’s dislike for Phillip has existed for a long time, but it became very public at the end of his marriage to Ruth. And as his hatred for him and ITV grew, the cracks in their relationship grew deeper.” “Ruth became a bit dismayed at Eamonn for making repeated digs at ITV after they were axed from This Morning. Ruth wasn’t over the moon about it, but given she was still a cemented member of the Loose Women family, it made things somewhat awkward for her to have Eamonn criticising ITV,” they claim.

The source then further claimed that Eamonn ‘loathes’ Phillip and has no regrets about what he said. “He doesn’t regret any of his behaviour. He believes he [Phil] is addicted to fame and he can’t believe he’s attempted to relaunch himself with his documentary last week.” Continuing, The source said that their tiff is one of the ‘bitchiest in showbiz,’ and it is said the feeling is so mutual they would ‘cross the road to avoid having to look at each other.’ The drama reportedly kicked off when Phil cut off Ruth mid-chat during a live segment of This Morning back in 2019, which got her so miffed she lodged an official complaint. At the time, Phil said: “Guys, we’re going to have to jump in there and stop you I’m afraid because we’re a bit tight for time at this end. Thank you Ruth,” only for Ruth to clap back: “Well, I only had about two more words to say,” and angrily ditched her pen. Then in 2021, Ruth and Eamonn were shown the door from This Morning after a solid 15-year stint, with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary stepping into their Friday shows. While Ruth kept quiet in public, Eamonn did not hold back and made it known that no one ever explained to him why they got the boot.
