Privacy Notice Love Actually star Heike Makatsch looks unrecognisable 21 years on from when she played flirtacious mistress Mia in the hit Christmas film. Love Actually was a box office sensation when it premiered in 2003, and the British rom-com has gone on to become a beloved Christmas classic in the two decades since. Now Heidi, who starred as brunette Mia and famously had an affair with her married boss Henry played by the late Alan Rickman in the film, is now set to star in Apple’s first German-language series, Where’s Wanda? The darkly comic thriller series, that hit Apple TV+ on Wednesday October 2nd, tells the story of Dedo, played by Axel Stein, and Carlotta Klatt, played by Heike, a couple who are desperate to locate their missing 17-year-old Wanda, played by Lea Drinda, who disappeared months ago without a trace.

When the police fail to find Wanda, the family takes matters into their own hands. With 10 installments in total, the dedicated parents go on a quest to crack the case for themselves, using surveillance equipment to spy on anyone who may seem suspicious. But Heike is barely recognisable in the role and looks completely different from her Love Actually days. According to The Independent, Heike played an “office tart” in the famous film. Mia was her boss Harry’s secretary and flirted outrageously with him, and was later gifted a necklace, leaving his wife Karen heartbroken.

In the film, the seductress sported a short, choppy black bob. These days, the now 53-year-old rocks a longer, blonde hairdo, meaning many don’t even recognise her as the Love Actually star. Heike played arguably the most hated character in the 2003 hit but it is never fully disclosed in the film if Harry cheated on his wife Karen with the sexy office seductress, however the storyline did not leave audiences without anger and heartbreak. Near the end of the film Karen finds a necklace in her husband’s coat pocket and assumes it is for her. His maybe affair with Mia is then revealed when she opens her present later to find it is a Joni Mitchell CD.

In the next scene we saw the scantily-clad Mia looking proud of herself as she puts on the necklace Karen had found earlier. Despite fans hoping that a real affair had not happened between the two characters, script editor Emma Freud confirmed that they definitely did. One memorable scene features Makatsch’s Mia and Rickman’s character Henry at a Christmas party where she wears a skimpy dress and devil horns in a bid to seduce him. Henry gives Mia a locket before she replies to him: “I don’t want something I need. I want something I want – something pretty.” As well as playing Mia in Love Actually, Heike’s most notable roles include Lisa Addison in action horror film Resident Evil (2002) and Liesel’s mother in The Book Thief (2013). Since the iconic film and role, Heike went on to star in a variety of German films and TV shows. Heike famously dated James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, for seven years. They first met on the set of romantic drama Obsession, which involved a love triangle between two men and women. After their relationship ended in 2004, she went on to date Max Martin Schröder, a musician in a German indie band, who she shares two children with.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
