Privacy NoticeEmmerdale is gearing up for a massive new plot that’s set to unfold next month and continue well into 2025. Several characters will be embroiled in this major storyline, with one family left feeling “anxious” about the unfolding events. While details are still under wraps, Mary Goskirk actress Louise Jameson exclusively spilled some beans to The Mirror, hinting at a “child involvement storyline”. Although she couldn’t divulge too much, she did reveal that the long-term plot would see the soap “heat up” before the year ends. It appears that the storyline will revolve around an entire family, presumably Mary’s, which includes her daughter Rhona, Rhona’s husband Marlon Dingle, and their children.

At the Inside Soap Awards, she teased to The Mirror: “They’ve given me such an easy summer I can’t tell you. But apparently November is really going to heat up.” “We’ve got a… I’m not sure how much I am allowed to say, but we’ve got a child involvement story so the whole family is going to be very anxious, that’s all I can say.” She added: “I know our storyline will span over 10 months, it’s a 10-month journey. That’s all I know.” When asked about preparing for such an extensive storyline, she shared: “I think it’s really important to know exactly when you lose your temper and exactly when you cry. Ever writer and director wants to have the money moment, but in a very long storyline it’s important to carve the story arc properly.” Louise shared her hopes for what viewers will take away from the gripping storyline: “I always hope they know there’s life in the old dog yet, and that at 73 you’re not gonna be given a zimmer frame and a cardigan, and that you’re gonna be given something vibrant, interesting, worthwhile and contributory to do.” Sign up to OK!’s TV newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

She also spilled the beans on her character Mary’s recent disappearance, revealing she was playing the devoted grandmother off-screen, stating: “She’s being the supportive grandmother in the background. I think she is looking after Ivy a lot backstage. She’s singing the baby to sleep,” adding with a chuckle that she was upstairs the whole time. But get ready to see more of Mary, as Louise confirms her role is going to take a central stage again, even managing to land a spot behind The Woolpack bar. Speaking about her character’s fortitude, she said: “In my mind I was getting too much of a ‘dream gran’ because I think she’s got a tougher spine than that. They have put me behind the bar.” And it looks like there’s some fiery drama ahead, as Louise teased: “I sort out a couple of rows so the spiky Mary is on her way back. I was so pleased. When they say you are gonna be behind the bar you think, you’re only there for a year and then every year you’re told it’s a year. When you are put behind the bar you think it might be a bit longer.”Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
