Privacy NoticeAn awkward on Strictly Come Dancing’s Sunday results show had the audience chuckling. Chatting with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin and his partner, Sam Quek, host Claudia Winkleman teased, “You’ve got a great song next week!” Eager to share, Nikita revealed were dancing a Samba to Shakira- before belting out an impromptu blend of Hips Don’t Lie with ‘Whenever, Wherever’. But a swift correction from Claudia followed, as she interjected, “Nikita, I love you so much but it was the other Shakira song…” which left Nikita hilariously covering his face while their fellow contestants couldn’t hold back their laughter. Further attempts by the former Celebrity Big Brother star to voice the actual tune only sent waves of giggles rippling through the studio, leading to another lovable cut-off by Claudia who declared, “I love you…” as others jokingly apologised to Shakira, saying, “Shakira, I’m sorry.”

Topping off the comical mishap, Claudia assured everyone, “It’s okay, she’s super busy, that’ll do! “. Viewers couldn’t stop laughing at the blunder, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) with their hilarious hot takes. One viewer tweeted: “Omfg I am absolutely CRYING at Nikita singing the wrong shakira song absolute SCENES in the Clauditorium tonight #Strictly”, while another commented: “Not Nikita singing the wrong Shakira song #strictly”. A third chimed in with: “how did nikita get the wrong song #strictly”. A different user voiced their surprise by exclaiming: “So this results show isn’t live and yet they left in Nikita’s mistake about the song?! That’s cruel! #Strictly.” Sign up to OK!’s daily newsletter to get updates sent to your inbox for free

Claudia called out Nikita’s awkward blunder
(Image: BBC)

The blunder came on the heels of the weekend’s themed episode opener, which saw pro dancers morph into Minions characters from Despicable Me, with Kai Widdrington channeling villain Gru. Meanwhile, his fellow dancers dressed up in bright yellow to play the part of the iconic sidekicks. As for the celebrities and their dance partners, they wowed judges and audiences this week with movie magic, dancing up a storm in film-themed costumes. However, the fun came to a halt on Sunday when Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones were voted off, leaving the competition whilst battling it out in the bottom two with Paul Merson and Karen Hauer. Ahead of the weekend, Nick Knowles of DIY SOS fame and his partner Luba Mushtuk were set to thrill with a Charleston to Paddington 2’s ‘Rain On The Roof’ until injury forced Nick out on Friday. Last weekend saw Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova become the first pair to be eliminated from the competition.
