Privacy NoticeEmily in Paris star Lily Collins gushed over her “career first” during tonight’s episode of The One Show with hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp. Perched on the iconic BBC sofa, Lily, alongside Netflix sensation Alvaro Morte, famed for his role in Money Heist, spilt the beans on their thrilling new theatre venture. The dynamic duo is all set to light up the West End with their debut in Barcelona, a two-hand drama premiering at the Duke of York’s Theatre come October 21. Curious about their transition from screen to stage, Alex probed: “I was quite surprised, Lily, that you did it in school, but not professionally.”

Embracing the moment, Lily revealed: “No, this is my first experience, and the West End has been a childhood dream of mine. So, to be able to do it with Alvaro and our amazing team (…) at the Duke of York is a dream.” Lily then reflected on the contrast between acting for camera and live performance: “But it is so different from film and TV – you don’t get to just have another take. So it’s all in the prep stage, which we’re in right now. We’re knee-deep and it’s a very quick turn-around. We’re really excited!” Enthusiasm was clear in Alvaro’s voice too as he shared his thoughts on his forthcoming stage appearance with Lily, saying: “Sometimes you feel like the magic is just there.”

The synopsis for Barcelona, penned by Bess Wohl and directed by Lynette Linton, reads: “Late night in Barcelona. An American tourist goes home with a handsome Spaniard. What begins as a carefree, one-night stand becomes an invitation to danger, as the personal and political catastrophically intertwine. “By turns funny, sexy and surprising, Barcelona is a seductive thriller that will keep audiences guessing – exploring the fantasy of who we pretend to be, versus the truth of who we are.” The play, which has been labelled as “explosive” will have a limited run of 12 weeks only from October 21 till January 2025, reports the Mirror. This follows Netflix’s confirmation that Emily in Paris will be back for a fifth season, with creator Darren Star expressing to Tudum: “We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” Meanwhile, on The One show, comedian John Bishop was celebrating his impressive career, with Alex praising him as one of Britain’s “most beloved” comics.
