Privacy NoticeThe 54 year old telly favourite has been a staple on the ITV morning programme for years, dishing out the latest entertainment gossip. However, Richard Arnold quipped that he was “retiring” while announcing his extended break from the show. Despite his temporary departure, Richard did let slip that he’ll be back in action for the Pride of Britain awards, which typically takes place towards the end of October. After giving presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls the lowdown on Big Brother during Tuesday morning’s episode, Susanna reminded viewers to tune in for more updates from the house tomorrow. However, realising Richard wouldn’t be there, she quickly corrected herself, saying: “And if you can’t watch it, don’t miss Richard tomorrow morning at this time.” Richard responded: “I’m on leave.”

A surprised Susanna exclaimed, “Oh no,” followed by an awkward silence among the trio, reports the Mirror. The showbiz reporter then declared: “I’m retiring from public life, until the 21st, I’ll be back for Pride of Britain! ” He then gave fans a glimpse into his plans for his time off. When Ed queried whether he’d be jetting off to Ireland, Richard clarified: “No, no, I’ll be spending a bit of quality time with mother. As always.” During a sweet exchange, Susanna remarked: “You’re the ideal son, I just hope that my sons at your age could say the same thing.” Richard, with a chuckle, responded: “I wish my mother would say the same thing!” In a candid moment last August, Richard gave his fans a glimpse into his personal life by sharing an amusing tiff between him and his partner: “My other half and I have fallen out over a shower attachment,” he quipped, sending everyone around into fits of laughter. Previously this year, Richard opened up about his long-term relationship, revealing that marriage might still be on the horizon. He playfully shared his anticipation: “We’ve been together for 19 years now my partner and I, it feels like five minutes, underwater. Still no ring on my finger, but I’m waiting,” he said, sparking curiosity about when the big question might be popped.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
