Privacy Notice Alison Steadman has shared her feelings of ‘dread’ as Gavin and Stacey wrapped up filming. The show is set to air a final Christmas special later this year, with Ruth Jones and James Corden among others saying goodbye to their characters for the last time. While fans eagerly await the finale, the ending remains under wraps. As the filming concluded, Alison looked back on her journey with the show, revealing that she was moved to tears during the final scenes. She confessed: “We’ve had a great five weeks. We only finished on Monday night but we were all dreading that final scene when we finished. 90% of us were in tears. Some people braved it but it’s been so fantastic. “We had a wrap party. It was very nice, it was lovely. We’ll just miss not filming it anymore. It was fabulous.” The actress also showered praise on James and Ruth, who play Smithy and Nessa, for their “witty” scripts. She revealed how she was instantly drawn to the role after reading the first script. “James and Ruth together, they are amazing, their scripts. So witty and funny! When I read the first scene, I was like, I’ve got to do this. I couldn’t wait. I was going through the script and they didn’t let me down!” she exclaimed.

After wrapping up filming in Dinas Powys, where Pam and Mick’s ‘Essex’ home is actually located, James took the opportunity to thank fans for their unwavering support. He expressed his gratitude, saying: “Today is our last day in ‘Essex’. Everyone in Dinas Powys has been so great to the show so thank you very, very much. It means more to us than you will ever know and we hope that you like the show.” Ruth conveyed her thanks as well, adding: “Thanks so much for being such dedicated fans and for being here every day and watching us even though we were there hid in the house. We hope that you will enjoy our little episode on Christmas Day.” The BBC’s official Twitter account shared the news that Gavin and Stacey had completed filming, posting a photo of the clapperboard with the caption: “And that’s a wrap… for the last time ever. See you on Christmas Day! #GavinAndStacey.” *The One Show airs at 7pm on weekdays on BBC One.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
