Privacy NoticeThe Repair Shop’s Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch were visibly moved to tears as a guest became emotional over her treasured possession. In the latest instalment of the beloved BBC series, the skilled restorers tackled a range of precious items with their usual care and expertise. The episode saw an emotional moment for Julie and Amanda when Sarah Ruffle, joined by her son James, entered the well-known workshop with hopes of having her childhood teddy bear brought back to its former glory. Sarah shared the touching story of her teddy bear, which had been her steadfast friend during her health battles, revealing she was diagnosed with Spina bifida and Hydrocephalus as an infant, reports the Express. The teddy, which had been by her side for hospital visits from a young age during times when her parents couldn’t stay with her was now in a state of disrepair, lacking eyes and held together by tape and bandages, as noted by Julie.

Explaining the significance of the bear, Sarah said: “He was given to me when I was a month old and he has been with me ever since. My sister is 15 months older than me so mum and dad were unable to stay with me in hospital.” She continued, expressing the deep bond she shares with the bear: “Where I couldn’t share things with Mum and Dad because they would get upset I would share them with Ted and it’s just my comfort.” Toy restorers Julie and Amanda were up for a challenge, putting their seasoned skills to the test as they set out to restore Teddy to his former glory, ensuring he can continue being Sarah’s source of comfort for many more years. The moment Sarah walked into the iconic barn with James to collect her cherished teddy bear was nothing short of emotional. As Teddy was unveiled, Sarah was overwhelmed, her tears flowing freely in an uncontrollable display of emotion. Sarah was utterly astonished by Teddy’s transformation, exclaiming: “Wow. It’s got a face with blue eyes. It’s so lovely.”

Julie, relieved and happy, responded: “I’m so pleased you like his face because for us that was our biggest concern.” Embracing her restored bear tightly, Sarah expressed her gratitude: “I don’t think I’m going to put him down. Thank you.” James chimed in with his own thanks, showing appreciation for the incredible work done on Teddy. The touching scene clearly moved Julie and Amanda; they both became teary-eyed, which led to a supportive exchange where Amanda checked on Julie, asking tenderly: “Are you ok?” Overcome with emotion and speaking to the camera afterwards, Sarah, still in tears, shared how much it meant to have her bear back, saying: “It feels priceless to have him back. He has always been my strength.” The Repair Shop continues on BBC One and iPlayer.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
