In May, news broke that Liam would be a judge on a new show, Building The Band, in which the next great pop group is created, without seeing them first. The show, was advertised to form the next great music group without any of the members ever seeing each other until a final reveal. Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland were announced as judges alongside Liam, with Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean planned to serve as host.

“As former members of The Pussycat Dolls, Destiny’s Child, One Direction, and the Backstreet Boys, respectively, these hitmakers will bring their unparalleled expertise and years of personal experience to the competition,” the streaming giant announced in a press release. Building the Band is set to offer a new spin on the classic talent show concept – as singers will all compete to join a band without ever seeing each other in the auditions – until a final reveal. The stars had already started filming the show, as they were spotted in Manchester early this summer for rehearsals on the new show, which was due to be filmed at the city’s landmark new arts venue, the £240m Aviva Studios. In August, Liam was spotted in the city’s swanky bar, Sexy Fish, with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Netflix has not yet revealed whether the show will still be airing. OK! has contacted the streaming service for comment.

Expanding further back in May, Netflix released: “When it comes to love, meeting face-to-face is clearly overrated. But what about music? The upcoming series, currently titled Building the Band, will attempt to answer this question by forming the next great music group without any of the members ever seeing each other. “Fifty talented singers will enter the competition for the opportunity of a lifetime: to find their perfect bandmates solely based on musical compatibility, connection, and, most importantly, merit. “They’ll be in complete control every step of the way, but is chemistry enough to make them a success? And when the bands finally do meet, how will looks, choreography, and style come into play? Expect plenty of drama, next-level artistry, and unforgettable performances.” The reunion between Liam and Nicole, would have been a ‘full circle moment’. The former Pussycat Doll was on the judging panel with Simon Cowell on The X Factor when they made the all important decision to put Liam, Louis, Niall, Harry and Zayn together. The band went on to achieve global success for six years before taking an ‘indefinite hiatus’ in 2016, one year after Zayn announced he would be leaving the band.Story SavedYou can find this story in  My Bookmarks.Or by navigating to the user icon in the top right.Follow OK!
